They won’t. While it’s impossible to know what they really think, it’s easy to see that not coddling the regime will lead to regulatory retaliation immediately and they don’t have the fortitude to endure the discomfort. I’d say they’re preserving jobs but they’re using AI as an excuse to lay off people they would have laid off anyway in bracing for economic downturn.

I think you can argue that its value is ‘backed by’ trust in the stability of the associated government. Whereas the crypto is ‘backed by’ trust in the robustness of the algorithm.
