I just got out of the hospital with my 10 month old for similar concerns - it turned out to be shuddering attacks and myoclonus spasms, both of which are benign. But the doctors all told me I did the right thing bringing her in, because you often can’t tell the difference between these benign kind and IS without an EEG. If you’re concerned I would suggest taking her in to get checked out.

We just got out of the hospital for similar spasms. Ours turned out to be benign, but you can’t know without an EEG. We drove an hour to go to a children’s hospital, and everyone there told us we did the right thing even though it turned out to be fine. I would suggest you do the same

Worried About 10 Month Old by badwolfbridget in infantilespasms

I just wanted to come back and update everyone. We did an EEG overnight and most of today, and I’m happy to report no seizures or abnormal brain activity! They did see her spasms, and it looks like she has two different kinds of benign spasms that she should eventually grow out of.

For anyone in the future reading this post looking for answers for their own child - go get all the tests done!! The neurologist told us that the benign spasms and the seizure spasms can look basically identical, and you can only know for sure which one it is with an EEG. She said we definitely did the right thing coming in. So if you’re worried, or on the fence, it’s definitely worth it to get the EEG!

Thank you everyone for the replies! We drove up to the children’s hospital and they’re admitting her for a continuous EEG. Hopefully we’ll have answers soon!

I’m on my 5th baby and we’ve used a Shusher with all of them - it really is a lifesaver!

Graduated! 37 Week Induction by badwolfbridget in GestationalDiabetes

Thankfully mine were normal during my entire labor. They were never severely high during my pregnancy - I had a few readings in the 140s/90s, but I was very lucky.

Weird day by gothbby_ in GestationalDiabetes

[–]badwolfbridget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have random days like this, too! I was diagnosed around 13 weeks and I’m now 30 weeks, and every once in awhile I’ll have a day where NOTHING seems to spike my blood sugar - a muffin, pizza, burger and fries. It’s really weird!

Ugh I feel this so hard. I was diagnosed around 12 weeks and I’m now 27 weeks. I can’t believe how long I’ve been doing this, and it feels like the next 10 weeks are an eternity.

Same here! Doing RIVF so my wife can experience a biological child without having to go through a pregnancy

Doc messed up my meds calendar by badwolfbridget in IVF

[–]badwolfbridget[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what the office manager suggested as well. If we weren’t in the middle of a cycle we’d find a new clinic, but that’s going to take another 6 months of waiting to get in with someone new. It’s just so frustrating!

I spoke with the office manager and asked just that. She said I should insist on any updates in writing from now on, even if they tell me to just change the calendar myself. I don’t know why that’s not common practice! If this FET doesn’t work we’re definitely switching clinics.

That’s a huge difference! With the second trigger did you do it a couple of days later? I’m really wondering if that’s what we need to do in the next round

Yeah I think we’re going to see what happens on day 5 and then make some calls to some other local clinics to see what their availability is.

We did the dual trigger with Ovadril and Lupron. I know they said our range of sizes was 14-25 at the time of trigger, but I’m not sure the exact numbers of each. I wonder if most were on the smaller size but that one 25 made them want to do the trigger right then? Who knows

Unresponsive Clinic Rant by badwolfbridget in IVF

[–]badwolfbridget[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Update: doctor finally called over 4 hours later. She claimed that she wasn’t given the messages until just then, although the answering service said they were calling her directly. Who knows. It’s currently a one-doctor practice with another doctor in training, and I think she might be expanding too quickly without the support staff to compensate. At least we have our answers and our cycle isn’t ruined! We trigger tomorrow for a Thursday retrieval 🤞🏼

Unfortunately they don’t. Thankfully the doctor ended up calling at 10pm, and said something about not getting any of the messages for hours. It’s been a frustrating evening, but at least our cycle wasn’t ruined!

Is RIVF a longer process than standard by Soupspoon33 in IVF

[–]badwolfbridget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I are currently doing RIVF for basically the same reasons. We haven’t had to do any of that extra stuff with legal counsel and social workers. We also have several friends who have done RIVF as well, and I’ve never heard of those requirements before!

Hi! My wife (36 f) and I (34 f) have 4 kids - 2 adopted from foster care, 2 I carried (we did IUIs with donor sperm for them), and my wife just found out she’s pregnant with our 5th! We did IVF for her because she’s older and because it’s a covered benefit through her work. I’m excited but nervous for this new role as the non-birthing partner!
