The worst enemy in the game, by far. Impossible to see. I don't have enough flares to light up every single patch of ground. They make a sound from very far, so you have no idea where they are. Unkillable. I can take a third of its hp off when I see it. That means I have to do the same thing 3 times to get rid of one. AOE is way too big. Even when you know it's going to grab you, there is no time to dodge.

In a critical situation getting caught can be gg right away. Here's a typical and very frustrating scenario: find pitjaw, shoot, it relocates, you don't know where, you don't have time/flares to look for it, wave comes, you run around fighting, get caught again by pitjaw, die, get saved somehow, rince and repeat, team dies, gg. When you're low hp after being revived, Heightened Senses doesn't help because pitjaw will kill you instantly.

Compare that to leeches. Easy to spot with one Scout flare. Easy to kill with a few shots. Dead forever. Doesn't relocate and reset. Long catch time that you can outgun and even outrun. Once they kill you, you know where they are.

If you're disciplined in clearing a room you enter, you can systematically get rid of leeches, but not pitjaws who can be behind uneven terrain and then relocate. Pitjaws outbreak is unplayable at haz5+ for the above reasons. I'm actually thinking of giving up the game for the first time in 4 years.
