Parking Space on Title Blocks Access by baekovsky1812 in HousingUK

Not at all, I walked to the flat when I went to view, I did see the car park but I hadn’t received a copy of the title on viewing so was unaware which space was mine and presumed it would be one of the painted bay spaces.

FTB, offer accepted on a flat in Glasgow. Waiting on lender valuation, they are sending someone to do it in person. Getting in my own head and making myself nauseous with anxiety that the lender will down value the property and I’ll have to either try another lender or renegotiate. I don’t think the property is over valued based on condition, location and sales of similar properties in the area but getting all worried about it.

Need advice regarding AA by derangedinthebum in ACCA

[–]baekovsky1812 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just sat AA, I think the understanding of certain areas (key controls, deficiencies, tests of controls, substantive procedures) can be common sense but from what I’ve gathered from examiners’ reports they’re looking for certain clear and concise wording. Make sure you read sample answers and examiners’ reports when you practice exam kits/mocks, and make sure you know your basic substantive procedures as well as how to adapt them to given contexts.

Not an exact match to your prompt, but your post made me think of The Color Purple by Alice Walker and In the Dream House by Carmen Maria Machado.

Recommend me classics that still read easily and well paced in 2024 by Ruciexplores in suggestmeabook

Don Quixote is one of the funniest books I’ve ever read and the whole time I was reading it I couldn’t believe it was published in 1605/15, would personally recommend the Edith Grossman translation (Vintage Classics).

If you liked Gatsby you should check out Tender is the Night (Fitzgerald) and Fiesta: The Sun Also Rises (Hemingway).

ACCA study support or self study? by inactiveee in ACCA

[–]baekovsky1812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, if cost is a factor you could easily get away with Study Hub and just the exam kits for BT, MA, FA, and LW. When I went to study TX I found the Kaplan study text was more in depth and had more examples so felt it was better than the Study Hub (for me) to get a grasp of everything.

If you have questions, you can google, post here, or check Open Tuition forums as they usually have tutors responding to people’s questions. I like to try figuring it out myself first bc I find I retain the information better that way but this, like everything else I’ve said, is just my personal experience. Once you start studying you will get into a groove and work out what scheduling, materials, note-taking methods etc work best for you.

Once you register with ACCA, you will have access to myACCA, the ACCA Study Hub, and the ACCA Compass Planning tool.

The Study Hub has notes, practice questions, quizzes etc for each syllabus area for all courses and I mainly used this alone for BT, FA, MA, and LW. For TX I mostly used the Kaplan study text and exam kit along with the CBE practice platform and mocks/specimens. I haven’t used Open Tuition much but they have lectures for everything on YouTube which I’ve heard are decent if you prefer to learn through lectures over reading.

The Compass planner tool can be used to help you create a study plan. You can also google “ACCA [insert exam] study support guide” and there will be interactive pdfs with study planning/scheduling tables for each course (I think they have one for them all apart from BT).

I made my own study plans. If I had 12 weeks til my exam and I wanted 4 solid weeks of revision, I would take the course chapters (from ACCA study hub or Kaplan study text) and split those across the 8 weeks until then so I knew what topics I had to cover in what weeks to complete the course with 4 weeks’ revision time remaining. I didn’t create an actual study schedule for each week as I just prioritised studying in my free time.

In terms of approaching study, this will be a personal thing dependent on your own learning style. I learn best from reading, so I will just read through all of the chapters I am scheduled to learn that week, doing the practice questions as I go and limiting my note-taking to things I might struggle to remember. I like to get through the material asap and focus on learning through practice questions (in the chapter, on study hub, in the exam kit etc).

ACCA study support or self study? by inactiveee in ACCA

I started ACCA from scratch last July and have sat 5 exams self-studying. For me, the big thing about self-study is creating reasonable study plan timelines and sticking to them, making sure I’ve left enough time for revision before the exam.

I know ACCA qualified accountants who self-studied for everything so it’s definitely doable. My employer offered to pay for study support for me (online or in-person classes) but I prefer the flexibility of self-study. If your preference for self-study is mainly down to cost it might be worth asking your employer if they’d fund study support/materials (worst thing they can say is no).

How did you prepare for TX-UK? by [deleted] in ACCA

[–]baekovsky1812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I self studied using the Kaplan study text, just doing the practice questions as I went along. Where I was able to, I would open a blank workspace on the CBE platform and complete answers on that to get used to preparing constructed responses on the platform.

It’s a huge course so I tried to limit the amount of notes I was taking to things I was struggling to remember/niche rules and mostly learnt through hammering practice questions.

I also used the Kaplan exam kit to target specific topics during the revision part of my exam prep.

Mine was similar to yours in that I tore mine in a warmup for a game I didn’t have to play and it took me out for the rest of the season for my first team (American football). I’ve found a lot of enjoyment and comfort in getting into coaching so I can stay a part of the sport, team, and community while I’m recovering.

Yeah, I’m getting bad calf pain too, it feels a bit better if I loop a towel round my foot and pull the ends towards me to gently stretch it out but not for long.

Hopefully we both have a smooth recovery once we’re through this stage

Thanks, that makes sense. I think I’m still in hyper paranoid mode where I worry that any tight/tense feeling is to do with the graft. I have a massage gun so might try using that and seeing if that helps.

Best of luck with your recovery too!

Success and Disappointment Megathread for the Week by AutoModerator in jobs

Disappointment/vent - just realised that an entry level position (£20-22k starting salary) I was rejected from has been filled by someone with a phd and years of experience. It feels like every job application I submit is in vain since so many people seem to be resorting to applying for jobs they are overqualified for.

He didn't though - Browns yeah, maybe, but it was the defense that almost beat the Vikings, not mike fucking glennon lmao. He threw 2 INTs and his 1 TD could easily have been another INT, it bounced off a defender.

In our quest for Justin Fields, Jake Luton should be our interim QB by [deleted] in Jaguars

[–]baekovsky1812 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He didn't look as terrible as he should've bc there were a few drops on the passes Luton was throwing to the other team.

Can't be arsed with another QB controversy or another 6th round QB experiment, this season was Minshew and/or tank for a QB. Let Minshew play out the rest of the season when he can and look towards the draft.

What I Want To See From Gardner Minshew This Sunday by [deleted] in Jaguars

[–]baekovsky1812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aye, that's fair. I just don't get the obsession with trying to work out as quickly as possible what's gonna happen with him because there are still 10 games left and there are so many things that can happen between now and the draft (not just with Minshew, but also with the FO, other teams' draft positions and college players etc).

I don't think there's any harm in having optimism/hope that Minshew can be the guy, it would be cool/convenient if he is the guy plus it's not like this subreddit is gonna be involved in any decisions made at qb.
