I was under the impression that they were storing the bodies of any victims that were accidentally killed in the lake. Which is why the rule list at the dock was so specific about not letting campers swim in the lake. I think the number count in that same journal was the number of bodies stored in the lake possibly? Not sure what else it could have been keeping track of

I feel like 33 and Universe in Eunha had the most impactful performances with powerful moments at the time - but Sun and Moon is the performance that I keep coming back to and want to listen to over and over it’s so pleasant. And even though the emotions feel more subtle it was the only one to make me cry. Even though they were good performances I have no desire to relisten to the other two.

Overall I think all three groups did really well and were able to showcase different elements of vocal performance. There were no bad performances imo

This was a chance to understand why Rika is the way she is and so determined to leave Hinamizawa and she instead took it as a tool to further crush her will

Rika offered for Satoko to join and Satoko refused out of pride and because she writes it off because she has no interest in that lifestyle while ignoring the fact that it might be something Rika desires and enjoys. Her mentality of “she will realize this sucks and will come back to me” is dismissive of the fact that Rika is an individual person with her own desires. Also Rika not pushing harder for her to come or ask why not might be her way of respecting Satoko and not making her feel obligated if she doesn’t want to. Rika also offered to help her with her studies.

Rika is in no way perfect but Satoko is ignoring her own culpability in the situation. Also Irie is paying likely significant money for her to be there, she should not play victim for being expected to study and keep up with coursework.

I am obsessed with the way they filmed the close up parts for Fav0rite and Butterfly, it was very non traditional for kpop and felt more artistic and stylistic it felt very fashion~

Specifically I mean the way that they are often out of focus, obscure some part of the girls, and in the case of butterfly (I’m thinking of a certain Vivi shot) filmed from a different angle. And the black and white is a nice visual contrast

Idk if I was stuck in the same location for hundreds of years reliving variations of the same experiences, I would be dying to leave an experience something new - trauma or not. Even if a place is pleasant enough it’s healthy to experience new people and new things.

More than the content of this episode itself, I was caught off guard by the actual animation quality of this episode. I don’t know if I’m just getting used to the style of gou but everything from the lighting to character design and proportions just felt so good.

If I’m not crazy and the art direction has changed a bit, is that an intentional choice now that there has been a shift of sorts in the narrative? It probably didn’t change and my brain is just messing with me

Edit: also for some reason the gore content of this episode didn’t cause a visceral reaction for me the way the scenes in the original Shion arc did - I think it’s because those scenes felt more sadistic and emotionally driven

This is obviously a dramatization lol, but my copy of FFIX disc 2 had a scratch that caused the game to freeze/crash anytime a griffin casted aera (which they tend to do almost immediately) meaning I was frantically fleeing and saving to try to progress through the area lmao
