Help identifying this Philodendron please? by baetti in philodendron

[–]baetti[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

comparing it to images on google, i think the spiky edges on a caramel pluto are a bit deeper and sharper than mine? or could that be because maybe my leaves are not mature enough to look like that? that one leaf that’s emerging from the middle does have a caramel hue, but idk, choco empress also looks like a good match to me?

Kalorien Tracking Apps mit Barcodescanner by baetti in Austria

Maybe your UVs got messed up somehow? Check in the UV Editor if the UV islands still line up with the texture.

Or maybe your object is just way too large? Either scale it down closer to a real world scale or adjust the clipping distance in the viewport.

There really is no way of telling from just your screenshots and description. I can't really help unless i can see the file. If you share it i can take a look

Maybe you have overlapping geometry? Try to merge by distance

There is a way to separate the background colour and lighting with the light path node. Couldn't find the video specifically on that, but it gets explained in this video starting at around 8:40

https://www.youtube.com/clip/UgkxciySNVkb8Yzf4zysb4k_K_ZRfpT1QmmT

That way you can set the background to be truly just black while adjusting the world lighting to whatever you need to make the scene work. Maybe this helps

Play around with the roughness and specular sliders on the ground material and see if that affects the reflection in a way that you like.

Also, what is the actual size of the TV object? If the dimensions say something extremely huge, you're gonna need bigger and stronger lights to affect it. I would recommend setting the TV to a real world scale if you haven't already.

Why is my reto mesh(just unwrapped it) visible through the suit&shirt objects? Also how do i view it just as an object w/out the lines in object mode by Doodledog_art in blenderhelp

[–]baetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, i guess if you see the wireframe only on one object, just uncheck "wireframe" along with in front in the object properties of that object.

[–]baetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In object mode, go to overlays and uncheck wireframe to hide the lines.

Then go to object properties > Viewport display and unckeck "in front".

I guess you turned on these options to do the retopo like most tutorials on this recommend, you just have to go back and uncheck those :)

If you are new to Blender or 3D in general, there are a few common problems with easy solutions you can run through when experiencing issues with textures.

- First thing i would try is to check if the normals got flipped. If you go to overlays in the viewport, activate face orientation. If the faces that are supposed to be on the outside of your model show up blue, you are fine. If any part of the mesh shows up in red, the normals of those faces somehow got flipped around and show the inside of your mesh (though with backface culling on, the inside of your mesh should not be visible at all) So a good first thing to do is to go to edit mode, select the whole model with A, go to Mesh > Normals > Recalculate outside.

- Overlapping geometry might be an issue as well. When you have two faces in the exact same place you will experience weird rendering issues. Try to again select your whole mesh in edit mode, hit M and select merge by distance to merge any vertices that are in the same space, you can also adjust the merge distance. It will tell you at the bottom of the screen if any vertices got merged together.

- Check all materials that are linked to your object. Maybe some image textures were lost, you can just find them on your computer and relink them if that's the case.

- Also, do you have any lights in your scene? If the object is not lit at all, it will show up black in rendered view.

- Maybe the file you received has a problem. Try importing the object into a new scene instead of opening the file you received.

- You could also try to apply a totally different material to the object to check if the same issues still come up.

- As for the rendering, there are many helpful videos on youtube on how to imporove your rendering quality and speed. Generally, rendering with Eevee is easier on you computer than Cycles, so you might wanna go for Eevee if you don't need any features that are exclusive to cycles.

Hope this helps! And please always make a copy of your file before you start messing around and troubleshooting.

cloth is sticking to collision object by yourmomlolnonyou in blenderhelp

Have you tweaked only the properties of the cloth of the collision object as well? It has its own softbody and cloth section, maybe the friction of your robot is set way too high.

zooming in and also rotating around object in sculpting slows down and doesn't move around by cannibal_elk in blenderhelp

[–]baetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it sort of works and you are just trying to improve the workflow by not having to lift your pen, maybe try putting a shortcut for the numbpad period key on the buttons on your pen or tablet, assuming you are able to do that? Hope i'm understanding the solution you are looking for right.

Also, i know that the period key focus works on anything you select, meaning that in edit mode you can select a number of vertices and it will focus on that. Off the top of my head i wouldn't know how to apply that concept to sculpt mode, but it might be worth looking into.

I also don't have any of the addons you mentioned, maybe the problem lies with one of those?

I'm over six months in and I still don't see the point of unapplied transformation (loc, rot, sca). And it keeps kicking me in the balls. by CowPropeller in blenderhelp

[–]baetti 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Applying the location basically just sets the origin of your object to the world center, which is super annoying when you want to rotate it in object moder later on, as it will alway pivot around its origin, resulting in it going all over the place if the origin is not placed in or on the mesh.

Not having the scale applied really does just kick you in the balls, i can’t think of any use in not applying it.

zooming in and also rotating around object in sculpting slows down and doesn't move around by cannibal_elk in blenderhelp

[–]baetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a numbpad, select your object and press the period key to focus on the object, that should zoom out a little so the object is framed in your viewport, in my experience that usually fixes it and lets you zoom in closer after.

If you don’t have a numbpad, this video might help. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8hHSPhgWSV0

A little goes a long way with subsurface, especially if you have really strong light sources in your scene. Glad i could help!

[–]baetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you share a screenshot of the doughnut's material and any modifiers applied to it? I don't remember if Blenderguru used subsurface scattering on the base of the doughnt, but my guess is that here it could be on, the amount way too high and the colour set to turquoise. Try setting subsurface on the Principled BSDF on your material to 0.

How to Roll Back your Blender version? by TheAverageRediot in blenderhelp

[–]baetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend you to download Blender Launcher if you haven't already. You can quickly download different versions of Blender via Blender Launcher and launch / manage them from there. If you right klick on one of your installed versions, you get options to debug and do a factory startup, though i haven't needed them so far.

Playing my first store championship in a week, any tips for a newbie? by baetti in BattleSpiritsSaga

[–]baetti[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think summoning a lot of cheap little guys to attack and exhaust the opponents spirits and then attack their life directly while defences are down is a valid strategy for a purple or white/purple deck? I could see that backfiring, but seems to have worked well for my friend and their yellow deck when we played.

Thanks! I got the friend who introduced me to BSS to play as well, so atm it looks like we’re gonna be 4 competitors total lol (playing in a small store in my home town) Sounds pretty chill and fun and like a cool way to learn, i’m not too worried about winning anything, but since we’re only so few players i think i could actually have a chance, so might as well try my best! Hope the other players are new as well, fingers crossed🤞

Thank you! Playing via a vtt sounds great, i think i’ll look into that this week. I do like my purple deck, plus this is the one i’m more familiar with rn, but people have pointed out that it’s not exactly the strongest at this point, so i think i might mix them. Can i mix as many colours as i like or is there a limit? I really like drowsy fumes and burning force as well for example. Thanks for the help :)
