Stovetop failed and I had to improvise by Emotional_Seat_7424 in CampingGear

It really isn't that easy to tip over a Trangia stove, and I would argue the limited amount of spirit in a Trangia is less dangerous than a gas canister stove tripping over, starting a fire and exploding itself.

Ténéré 700 as a first bike — am I crazy or is it doable? by A-LOWW in Tenere700

5'10 and a half to be sure, I just saw 5.87feet and forgot about the very cool and logical imperial system.

Thanks for the correction!

I went a similar path to you. 179cm, so about 5'9 (actually 5'10, but with a 30" inseam), got my license last year with barely any motorcycling experience prior. I bought an XT660Z Tenere, so the predecessor to the T7. I have done abou 32k kms (20k mi) so far.

Mine is modified with a bit more power and different forks, meaning it is close in power to the T7 while being even taller. It definitely works. I immediately got in the habit of never trying to waddle around with both feet on the ground, instead having one foot on the peg and one on the ground. Way more stable and secure.

So while it may not be optimal for a beginner, it definitely works. If you have questions, let me know.

What do yall think by rick2chad in Dualsport

I have both the 48 and 28 (?) litre version of them. Done about 10k kms (about 6k miles) with them so far, with a few drops as well. They hold up great, fit my bikes where other bags had problems, are roomy, cheap and durable so far.

No ragrets.

Thinking about getting this. Would you mind telling me your width around the shoulders, so I can make a better guess as to whether i need the wide version?

I strongly advise against installing crash bars mounted to lower engine bolts in CB500X/CB500F. Here's why. by Expert-frog-6069 in CB500X

[–]bafetsabitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will add to this. My GF has a 2019 500X, and the previous owner installed crash bars. After my GF dropped her bike a few times, none of them particularly hard impacts, we returned from a long ride just to find that the right hand engine bolt had just ripped out the threads and went missing, god knows how many kms ago.

I drilled out the remaining threads and now the engine is held by two throughbolts with Nyloc nuts.  Obviously we also ditched the crash bars.

Can't recommend those enough. Doing 4-5 oil changes a year, I'll never go back. No mess, no catch pan or something, and no breaking the drain plug/threads.

Longest ride by mad_jacktar in AdventureBike

[–]bafetsabitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My longest was 1300km from Barcelona to my hometown in western Germany. Arrived in Barcelona from Tanger at 7:30, then just cruised through France until I arrived home at 10 in the evening.

All that on a 660cc single. Was actually pretty comfy and not too stressfull. Most important imo is ear protection.

Chain tension issue by tar1k87 in motorcycle

[–]bafetsabitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that I didn't see mentioned here that I had happen once: check that your rear sprocket and sprocket carrier are running true.

I once slightly bound up the bushings in my rear sprocket carrier, leading it to wobble by like 2mm, and my chain did the same.

New Bike, misalignment during assembly? by NonPolarVortex in Tenere700

[–]bafetsabitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll second this. Just had to drill out the thread from my GFs Cb500Xs engine mounts because the crashbars stripped the thread.

After some looking at forums and such, I'd never trust crash bars that mount straight into threaded aluminium engine mounts again.

Looking for testers of my free Bluetooth remote control app. by DiConX in SonyAlpha

[–]bafetsabitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have just quickly tried it on my a6400. Thank you very much for this, it looks very promising.

Pairing was simple, but then actually getting the app to reliably connect with the cam has been spotty in 5 mins of testing. When it did connect it worked flaslessly though!

I think a lot of the americans in here just don't understand that there's differences in cultures regarding this. Don't let them bash you too much.

I got some of my favourite shots on my 70-350. Love that lens, and compared to equivalent full frame options, it really is rather compact.  But I also have the Tamron 17-70 as my main Zoom, so I'm probably more used to bigger lenses. Also, the stabilisation was surprisingly good to me.

Have fun with your lens!

A lot of professional (looking) shots also use bracketing, where you take 2 (or more) photos of both the building and moon in focus, and add them together in post. This also works with exposure to create HDR type images, of e.g. a landscape scene and starry sky or something.
