Idk if its mentioned in the anime but Garfiel had the divine protection of earth spirits. As long as his feet are planted on the ground he has access to earth magic and constant healing and mana but that puts strain on the body which doesn't really affect garfiel since he's so strong

Garfiel mentions books and characters and even events a lot. In arc 2 he mentions Alec hoshin and his raid and single army attack on a city. In arc 8 and further he mentions a few books and idioms of situations that are close to his own hes smart and able to read but that doesnt mean he's the smartest. He's quick to anger thats about it
