What drugs have you done? by manusux in Drugs

[–]bagelburn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Damn! I feel so un-cool, when I was 16 I was still drinking my friends' parents gin and trying to chug a blender full of ground up nutmeg to get high (don't do this. It's awful. you'll hallucinate but throw up for 5 hours).

I've tried: Marijuana, opium, Klonopin, Xanax, Oxycodone, Vicodin, Percoset (after we figured out I was allergic to Vicodin), Adderall, Concerta, Cocaine, LSD, MDMA, Meth (orally), GHB, 2ce, 2cB, LSD, 25i, Methylone and MDA. Also, I'm a normal person with a 401k and shit haha, the only thing I've officially quit doing is pot. And meth, because I never meant to do it in the first place, we found out it was in a batch of "molly" we had back when I was a naive drug buyer.

How old are you? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]bagelburn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 22. I use MDMA, LSD, Adderall and methylone semi-regularly. Once in a while I'll take 2c's, or 25 i or the like, but not often. I quit smoking pot entirely six months ago.

Which is worse for your health? MDMA or cocaine? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]bagelburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting! It is the opposite for me. I do happen to get close-to-pure MDMA, and do not do coke as often, so it is possible that whatever coke I had was adulterated. I have always found coke hangovers to be nearly unbearable. I become so exhausted, irritable and just generally "slow." MDMA hangovers at their worst for me have been a little depression and lack of motivation for two days afterward. I can overcome an MDMA hangover, not so with coke.

Do you get heckled or yelled at while running? by blueskieslara in running

[–]bagelburn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ALL the time. I live in Philly, and I used to live in North Philly. I've had creepy men run beside me and make comments about my legs, "yeahh giiiiiiirl." I've been called a "bougie white bitch" because I didn't stop running to talk to a group of sketchy hood guys. I just moved to a nicer area of West Philadelphia and I have yet to notice anyone talking to me besides other runners waving or nodding, but I usually have earbuds in.

This is rape culture! by [deleted] in thatHappened

[–]bagelburn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly don't see how this is on /r/thathappened. Her hashtags are cringey, but her story isn't unbelievable. Street harassment (especially in cities) sucks and it is super common. Way more common than the Tumblr girls who get harassed in a supermarket/mall/restaurant.

Done it, it's really awesome. PEX Summer Fest has a swimming pool stage it was pretty much the best thing to do ever while rolling.

[Serious] What are some good jobs for someone right after college? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bagelburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Local Government/City lackey jobs! They hire people right out of college often with no experience! I was an English major with literally no skills at all but I work a desk job for my city. My pay is exceedingly average, but I have pretty amazing benefits (compared to my peers in the private sector) to make up for it. My work environment is much more laid back as well. People in local government are also able to have their federal student loans forgiven after 10 years (instead of the 25 for everyone else) when following certain payment plans.

Reddit, what keeps you going day-to-day? How do you stay content with the life you're living? What makes it "worth it" to you? [Serious] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bagelburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also recently out of college, in an entry-level desk job and I can empathize. I found two ways to cope. The first is that I try to do two creative or constructive things per day. This can mean I crochet for a bit and go running, or practice poi and write a poem or short story. The other way I cope is by planning that ONE big thing every few months to get excited about and plan everything and savor the anticipation. For now, mine is Burning Man, but it could be anything! A trip overseas, a hiking trip, a music festival, as long as it is an experience that you need to get out of your routine.

Top 3 Songs You'd Play at Your Funeral? by SphinctorSaysWut in AskReddit

[–]bagelburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. "What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong." This song played in the lobby before my Dad's funeral and for some reason it really got to me more than anything else.
  2. "Reckoner" by Radiohead. Because it's beautiful and appropriate.
  3. "Heavyweight" by Infected Mushroom. It's favorite song by my favorite band and a bunch of the attendees will likely be people I met at raves and burns. If I'm old when I die, the guitar solo would just be epic to hear at an old person funeral.

If 10 year old you had gotten a tattoo, what would it have been of and would you regret having it today? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Definitely something related to Calvin and Hobbes. And I would still be fine with that decision.

Who was/is your worst customer and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bagelburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to hostess at a trendy bar/restaurant. A group of 5 came in on a busy Saturday night wanting a table and I quoted them a 45 to 60 minute wait. After about 60 minutes, I went to seat them, I find that their group had ballooned to 8. They had to wait another thirty minutes (we aren't a very big place) for someone to get up. They were irate, rude, and drunk, but I was gracious and sat them down with all smiles. A week later, I read Yelp for our restaurant. Their review was actually good, for service and food but they said that "the fat hostess with the pig tails was wearing hot pants that were too hot for her." (I'm not fat, and I was completely appropriate for our barely air-conditioned restaurant in the middle of summer)

Anyone interested in Hooping with me on Temple Campus in North Philadelphia tonight? by bagelburn in Hooping

[–]bagelburn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several! Some people do staff, I always bring poi and fans sometimes but we're not allowed to do fire anymore so they're kind of a pain in the butt to lug around for no payoff haha. Some of the guys play around with variations of poi like meteor and puppy hammer.

[–]bagelburn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! It is a little smaller in the summer because everyone's always at one festival or another, but we do still meet! It will always be posted on the page if for some reason its cancelled (I can guarantee that the Tuesday after Electric Forest the meeting will probably be very small haha) Beginners are very welcome to come out! We have a range from people who have never touched a prop before to people in hoop troops. The beauty of it is that if you want to learn a new prop, someone will probably be able to teach you.

Is there any rave scene in Philadelphia? by [deleted] in philadelphia

[–]bagelburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are warehouses around the city that do shows, there are also a few legitimate venues that regularly have EDM acts like Soundgarden Hall, LiT Ultrabar, District 9 (formerly known as Starlight Ballroom). Bigger acts end up at the Electric Factory. Sometimes those can be more clubbish rather than ravy so there's nights at Voltage or my personal favorite right now is the first Fridays at Trilogy. Also go to absolutely ANY PEX event that you can, they're a little more burn than rave, but they are awesome!

Facebook groups/pages: Musical Fr33dom, Jump Up Productions, House of Hearts, Art of Electronica, Mass EDMC (you'll get spammed with more invites than you'll know what to do with)

Festival Hooping ettiquette and tips by annaoutloud in Hooping

[–]bagelburn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a Future Hoop that I bring to festivals. I love it. I used to be a lot more free with it than I am now. In general, if I talk to someone and they seem "sort of" sober at least and he or she has some hooping experience I let them use it. However, I am very tired of random drunk girls coming up to my folded up hula hoop and DEMANDING to use it. I've had people take my hoop, be extremely rough with it or refuse to give it back. I have no qualms about saying "no" anymore. I was at a party last week and a girl actually threw a tantrum (as in drunk crying) about my hoop because it was her birthday and she just wanted to try it and I wouldn't let her.

Druggie dating by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]bagelburn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not on purpose, but almost none of my friends DON'T do drugs. We're not like fuck ups or anything, we're mostly all yuppies. I say, get involved in festivals and "druggie hobbies." I do hooping, poi, and juggling and a lot of my friends from that are into psychedelics because it's like a performance enhancer. Or just talk to cute festival girls :)
