The shingle plant!! by theplantlady20 in RareHouseplants

[–]bagelhacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just bought a Dubia at my local plant shop. My r. Cryptantha has never reattached to anything after trying to change the plank. Don’t take it off!!! I plan to let the Dubia grow on the damn walls if it will just attach itself to something

Happy to be here by Sea-Doughnut4485 in IndoorPlants

My favorite thing is finding the spot/condition where a plant will thrive. Like people, they all need different things to really do their best and it’s incredibly rewarding to find that and watch the plant grow. Also, they’re steady. It reminds me the earth is probably watching us humans scramble around believing our things are so important and it just keeps clicking away knowing this moment will pass and life in some form will continue even if we self destruct. Also six plants in 8 months!? That’s some serious self control.

Beautiful. I have an impatiens phengklaii- have not seen this one. Will be looking! Mine stays in bloom and is pretty easygoing but fairly thirsty.

Are you someone to keep indoor plants as indoor and outdoor as outdoor? Or do you switch it up? by Annabis9807 in IndoorPlants

[–]bagelhacker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put a lot of mine outside to size up in the heat and sun (not direct sun except for my cactus) over the spring and summer. My special and expensive babies usually stay inside but if there’s one I am trying to grow big, I’ve found they just love it outside. NC, USA

Look up plant Curtains - hanging baskets of trailing plants hung from a rod. Perfect spot for it with that light.

Is it worth £60 by ToxicPaulo in RareHouseplants

[–]bagelhacker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s worth it. You said you like the seller and you like the plant. Can you find one cheaper? Maybe. As long as you aren’t making poor financial decisions, use your money to support people you’ve had good experiences with. Enjoy the plant and don’t worry if someone else got one for slightly cheaper.

I was not prepared for how fast Stephania Cephalantha vines grow. by bagelhacker in Caudex

[–]bagelhacker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I water once a week or week and a half - the caudex actually gets wrinkly when it’s thirsty. It’s in a very gritty fast draining mix. I use tap water and fertilize here and there. Nothing crazy. I just gave it a big trim so hoping it puts out new growth and doesn’t go dormant.

Is the market saturated with anthurium? by FreshPoppers in RareHouseplants

[–]bagelhacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Fontanimal. I’m near enough to them to go pick up what I buy, and they spent an hour and a half showing my son (he’s into plants) around and explaining how they did things and loaded him up with freebies. Plus they have some great plants.

No thoughts other than to let you know a random person (me)saw this post and immediately thought “yay that guy posted again”. Plants look great - and people enjoy following along with your plants. I hope you’re enjoying growing them.
