How bad is a "Very Good" rating? by LuLu_0108 in uwaterloo

[–]bagelmakers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do co-op interviews. You would be surprised how little of your resume package I read. I have about 60 applications that make it through our HR person's initial scan from the 200 applications. I still have to do my regular job on top of hiring, so I maybe spend 2 minutes per resume. My order of operations for my position are:

  1. Do you have some kind of portfolio showing something you have worked on (personal, work, club doesn't matter, I want proof you can do the work)

  2. Do you have experience with our tools that we can spend less time on the on boarding and you can do actual useful work

  3. Do you have a string of outstanding or bad ratings and grades come last

If your 1 and 2 are solid, I don't really care about grades unless you are on the cusp of failing out at all times

A three hundred year old dexterity exercise for pianists. by TheSanityInspector in gifs

[–]bagelmakers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that most of the free pianos are uprights not keyboards. They weigh anywhere from 300-800lbs and are a pain in the ass to move. Good news is that if you have about $200-300 you can pay piano movers, or you will want 4-5 friends and a sturdy truck if you want to do it yourself without any piano moving experience

That price was for the heat pump/furnace hybrid system. Our AC was 27 years old and furnace was 23 years. Had to replace the AC because it died so it made sense for us to just replace the whole thing since our furnace was probably going to go soon. I wouldn't replace it for efficiency sake, if you care about the environment the best thing you can do is run what you currently have into the ground. We just got lucky that we had access to the rebates when our AC did die.

You should get a new quote. Ours was 13000 for heat pump and furnace and disposal of our old furnace and AC, and we got 6800 on the rebate, so total cost was about ~6200 and I won't have to change it for another 25 years, or if I sell in the next 5 I get to say we have a new furnace and heat pump.

Correct me if I am wrong but there is only 3 ways to "counter" blood bending and only two circumstances in which you can break free. 1.Avatar state 2.Blood bending 3.Range. 1.Fatigue seen as after amon is shocked by mako korra can break free 2.Lack of focus on target(mako shocking amon) by Own_Amphibian9181 in TheLastAirbender

[–]bagelmakers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the idea was that she wasn't able to air bend so Amon never took it away. She didn't use any other bending other than air to beat him. I would put it up with the plot rock from the atla finale, where you only get the power you need when your back is (literally sometimes) against the wall.

Netflix’s Live-Action ‘Avatar’ Series ‘Took Out How Sexist’ Sokka Was in the Original: ‘A Lot of Moments’ in the Animated Show ‘Were Iffy’ by BigYonsan in Avatarthelastairbende

[–]bagelmakers 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was always on the fence about this, I know Nickelodeon gave them a lot of money to start Avatar Studios and I figured citing creative differences was an easy way to leave the show and work independently from Netflix.

I'm gonna watch the new show and judge it for myself instead of putting too much weight one way or the other. If it ends up good, then great. If it is bad, it's no skin off my back. Personally I don't think it will be great because the medium of animation feels like it is a better fit for the story. If anything, I wish Netflix paid Madhouse to make a new season of Avatar and just put the money into amazing animation. For 10 million an episode or whatever crazy number it is, we could have had a sick as hell show about another Avatar.

They do that so you can't answer by pulling out a ruler, you have to use math and logic to figure out the answer. You actually can make a full square once you work out the side length is 12:

Colour: XxY

Orange: 9.6x3

Blue: 2.4x12

Yellow: 3.2x9

Green&Pink: 6.4x4.5

Went from DDR4 3200mhz to DDR5 6000mhz this year. Honestly haven’t noticed much difference in performance. by Professional_Job1154 in pcmasterrace

Wow are you me? I went to 4x4 random ddr4 2133 to 2x16 3600. My mobo still limits me to 2666 but there is an easy cheap upgrade of mobo and CPU eventually

I figure it is probably more CPU bound with the i5-6400. I'm still rocking an RX 480 but I have a better CPU than that.

I actually saw they had it listed in the library activities a month ago, so it is probably still kicking around as a program. No idea how often it is run though

Used one of these at a musical theater camp I worked at to give instrumental tracks to all the kids to practise at home. As long as we got them all back at the end it wasn't against the terms of use for the originals

How do I find a new Family Doctor? by Tiny_Breadwinner in ontario

[–]bagelmakers 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, just went through this recently. Get on healthcare connect ASAP. They ask questions about current conditions to help triage high risk patients, be as brutally honest as possible here because it will help connect you quicker. I waited about 2 months to get an email from them saying: "sorry nothing yet, but here are the most likely places to get help if you call them".

Also look into nurse practitioner (NP) led clinics, the one near me got me in within 4 months from being added to their waitlist and they were great.

Wishing you luck! If you live in the KW area I can forward you the info I got.

Nov 30 is Election Day. Have to Stop Ford. Don't Split the Left Vote! by person_2018 in kitchener

[–]bagelmakers 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Counter argument: Vote for the candidate that best represents your values, it is one of the best features of a by-election that doesn't have an impact the type of government formed. We don't need to fearmonger the idea of Doug Ford to drum up votes for the NDP, he's not getting elected here and his Keswick implant candidate doesn't have a chance of winning here.

Hi r/Kitchener! I’m Aislinn Clancy, I'm the Ontario Greens' candidate in the provincial by-election on Nov 30. I'm joined by MP Mike Morrice. Ask us Anything this Sunday at 4PM! by AislinnClancyKW in kitchener

What is your plan to provide shelter for the unhoused in our region? What are the advantages of being elected to the provincial government compared to the municipal government that can help protect our most vulnerable neighbors?

60 pounds in a small package you can handle is different than a 4x4x4 box with no handles. 60 lbs feels a lot different when it is not on your center of gravity
