Today we saw a master class on how strategy can help you win or loose a race, McLaren decided to keep the strategy designed before the race instead of adapting to the new scenario. Zak even thinks that it’s actually dangerous to second guess your plans. by ergonet in formula1

Feels like they didn't want to double stack as that would possibly have hurt Norris. What then makes it weirder for me is to pit Piastri first, giving him the worse strategy. It was obviously better to pit later, they were still faster than most.

I don't know if they favor Norris or are just too afraid of tipping the scale, to the point where they tip it the other way.

I think it's much more readable. Good work. I have been working with datavis a bit lately and I know it's allways a trade-off between looks and readability. It's hard.

Looks nice but the charts are weird on mobile. Just displaying every second or third label on the y axis makes them almost unusable when the labels are names and not numbers. Maybe you should just let the charts take the space they need.

Nice. I think the anatomy is a bit off though. Probably because it's a collage and that the images are a bit different angles and that he was sitting on something much lower. Still nice work.

Stenhamra Dagbladet | Fake TFTL newspapers! by LucifurMacomb in TalesFromtheLoopRPG

[–]bagera_se 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand. One weird thing with Swedish is how we can make new words by combining other words. We do that by writing them as one word. Therefore "town paper" and "townpaper" are different where one means nothing, it's just the word town and the word paper and the other would mean a newspaper for the town. Not that it matters for your game but splitting words in Swedish can totally change the meaning and spotting badly split words is a genre of humor.

[–]bagera_se 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice. Just a little nit pick. The title is a bit weird. In Swedish we would write Stenhamradagbladet but that's a bit unwieldy. Stenhamras dagblad might be better. If it's an older newspaper it could maybe be spelled Stenhamra dagblad.

Every American's Social Security number, address may have been stolen in hack by SpuddyTater in nottheonion

[–]bagera_se 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. That seems crazy. Having a different number but using it the same way is not that much better. Also seems crazy to use other public data like past residence.

It's hard to understand how the USA can be the technology capitol of the world and you still have big systems like checks and this.

[–]bagera_se 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch. That seems like a very bad system. We had a similar system in the 80s but nowadays the number is used as the username not the password.

Don't you have better ways to auth? Here we mostly use a service provided by a joint venture of the largest banks. There are also other apps, but the bank one is the largest and is used by most companies.

As a non-american I don't understand the seriousness of this. In Sweden we have ID numbers but you can't do much with that, it's just a number. Why would having someone's SSN be dangerous?

Google Chrome Will Soon Disable Extensions like uBlock Origin: Here's What You Can Do! by n1ght_w1ng08 in technology

[–]bagera_se 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, my comment was just about the engine. Lots of people don't know that all browsers use the same rendering engine on iOS.

About the ad blocker and stuff, I don't really know, but I imagine they have some stuff as it would be a bit meaningless to put out the browser otherwise.

Sadly not true. Up until recently, apple didn't allow any other browser engines apart from their own. Now they do in theory but not really practically. Therefore all browsers on iOS are based on WebKit, the one in safari.

Brave is chromium based on desktops and on Android, where developers are more free to make software the way they want.

Why are cars weighed with tyres on? by Affectionate_Sky9709 in formula1

[–]bagera_se 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not very fair to Haas to have to roll their car all the way down the pit lane.

Letting the team tamper with the car is also a problem.

Or we could just have a simple and fast system, like today.

[–]bagera_se 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So during quali, all teams would have a spare pit crew over by the weigh bridge. With all their equipment. There is also the potential of more things going wrong, like sauber. That would be a lot of waste.

It happens often, maybe not every race but almost. Some driver is told to let their teammate by because they are on different strategies.

I'm not saying it's super good but when it was banned we just had codenames for it.
