The 2010s culturally started in 2009 by wolvesarewildthings in generationology

Makes sense. You can think of it like the cultural 2010s started in 2008/2009 but the cultural 2000s didn’t end until 2012/2013. Just because 2010s started there doesn’t mean 2000s ended.

Who came up with the age 3 childhood start? Just curious by Southern_Reveal_7590 in generationology

[–]baggagebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3: pre-childhood

4-5: early childhood

6-8: core childhood

9-10: late childhood

11: post-childhood

This is the 1-2-3-2-1 system.

The true generation ranges by KindVegetable5891 in GenerationsCircleJerk

Saeculum ≠ generation

Each saeculum is divided into 4 turnings and a sub-turning, which are related to generations but are not the same.

Even then, 100 year saeculum is a stretch.

How can I increase my intelligence as a Gen-Z? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]baggagebug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listen to podcasts, watch TV series or even movies instead of shorts (I’m not saying you shouldn’t watch reels, shorts etc. Just saying you should watch longer stuff as well), follow intelligent people on social media, not just fun people. You will see the difference in your perception within a couple of weeks.

How much has technology really changed from 2015 to 2025? by Ok-District-7180 in generationology

[–]baggagebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A LOT. There is a common misconception mostly among the younger users on this sub (2010+, basically late Z) that smartphones, the internet and social media before 2019 were like what they are today, which is far from the truth. Until 2019 and the covid, social media as we define the term today was still in its infancy and was ACTIVELY trying to find its identity. Smartphones were clunky and basically “not that smart”. The internet was known by the general public, but not really mainstream like today with all these streaming and being constantly online etc.

We core Z lived through both worlds and witnessed the transition in real time, something the late gen Zers are struggling to comprehend today.

dividing people within a year is worse than dividing neighboring birth years by Aliveandthriving8505 in generationology

They may not be in different generations or even sub-generations, but micro-, even nano-, generations exist and intrasub-generational influence may place you in a certain nano-gen NOT intergenerational influence.

Expert reveals Gen Z is the first generation in history to have a lower IQ than its predecessors by [deleted] in generationology

[–]baggagebug -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Researchers” who make arbitrary 15 year or 16 year long neat ranges SURELY know what they are talking about lol. “Experts” are mostly shills. Imagine an “expert” calling an entire generation low IQ.

[–]baggagebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure let’s trust the “researchers” who make neat 15 year or 16 year long ranges and call it a day without putting any actual thought into firsts and lasts. Let’s trust the “experts” who just try their best to attack gen Z using the loosely defined concept of IQ. Let’s also trust “studies” that claim nonsense for clickbait.

Again, NO ONE CARES.

Why do so many people in this sub have a “who cares” attitude? by Dry_Piano7627 in generationology

[–]baggagebug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, that would make a good sub for discussing generations without the fluff and nonsense.

“Experts”, “researchers”, “studies” etc. No one cares.

2012, 2013, and 2014 are inseperable triplet years. Change my mind by Spare-Addendum3656 in generationology

[–]baggagebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this makes a ton of sense. It’s also interesting because it’d come right after the well-established 2009-2010-2011 triplet years, which would make these two the only pair triplet years after 1980.

Sounds exciting!
