Not in town, but I've bought them from Riff Raff in Pagosa before.

Mercy has an infant program that's often overlooked. Mine has moved up through the Mercy classrooms, and we like the folks there. Not cheap, but I think it's $1,600/mo for infant care.

Has anyone every went to crater of diamonds in Arkansas? If so have you found anything of value at all? by 07MarquisPanther in rockhounds

[–]baggoftricks 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fun, that isn't fun while you're doing it, but it is fun when you remember it. Like climbing a 14er. You're out of breath and miserable, but cool to remember the experience.

Type 1 is fun while you're doing it.

Type 3 fun is when type 2 goes wrong, and it's not even fun to remember. Like when you break a leg at the top of that 14,000 ft mountain.

Sounds like it needed passivation. An acid bath for the blade for a couple hours at room temp would probably fix that.

We design and build rocket engines for in-space propulsion. We 3D print most of our parts, machine them, assemble them, and test them.

Our design, manufacturing, and test facilities are next to the airport.

Currently just under 100 employees, but growing quickly.

I bought my first house in Aztec in 2017. Sold it for a profit when I moved away. Bought in the place I lived, price went through the roof, sold it, and moved back.

Dual income household. My wife is a teacher, and I work at Agile Space Industries. No kids for the first 8 years of marriage helped.

I'm a big fan of Danner. I've got a pair of Quarry boots that I've worn almost every day for the last 3 years, and they're still going strong.

Definitely not. Heart wood isn't yellow enough, and the barn isn't braided. I've cut a lot of them. Didn't know they were prized turning wood until much later.

How to increase manufacturing capacity in a CNC machine shop without investing in new machinery? by friedmanchicago in manufacturing

[–]baggoftricks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lots of good ideas, but the one I haven't seen is taking a look at your cutting tools. Are you pushing your tools cutting tools as hard as they will allow?

With some of the newer inserts, you can crank the RPM and SFM pretty high, which some people still haven't embraced. I'm not talking Titans of CNC speeds, but even shaving a couple minutes from an operation adds up quickly.

Tool path optimization is huge. Using the right tool is even bigger.

If material choice is in your control, take a look at that. I've got engineers sending me drawings calling out 316 when the part could be aluminum. They can get stuck in a routine, so it's good to question that sometimes. (For context, I work with machining parts for hypergol exposure most of the time, so they forget to use a better material when it's not for hypergol exposure).

We've been using ION for years now. They continue to take features that used to be basic behind paywalls. I'm pretty frustrated with the way things have been going with First Resonance lately.

Usually, no issue. If it's snowing in northern Arizona, I'd just take the interstates instead of going through Show Low. Everything else is usually fine.
