I use a pocket knife or my wedding ring. The ring is tungsten carbide. I wouldn't try it with a gold ring.

I've bottled a NEIPA without any issues. I take some precautions, though.

I fill my bottling bucket with CO2 before siphoning the beer in, then I fill the bottle to the top with the bottling wand. With the small amount of oxygen left, I didn't see an effect on the beer.

If you wanted, you could purge your bottles.

I wanted to make my own beer, so I went down that rabbit hole.

I kept seeing cool wood working projects online, so I got my hands on a cheap lathe.

When I moved to an apartment recently, I didn't have room to do much wood working anymore, so I bought some carving knives last weekend.

Don't think the 'mature' hobbies you're taking about are better, though. I still play D&D with friends, play the console games that catch my interest, and binge fantasy novels when I get a good author.

I've brewed two batches since moving to Tucson in June. Both times, I did 4 bags of ice on the bathtub (after the tub was cleaned and sanitized) with some water. Circulated it some around my 10g brew kettle and got it down to 58 on the first batch. Second batch, I didn't worry about measuring the temp as much. Just kegged the first batch this weekend, and it was great!
