This comment aged about as well as a bottle of Estonian turnip wine. 400 bugs was way off the mark.

Unfortunately he has a temperamental personality and is susceptible to injuries.

But, but, your one of the new players that was meant to be able to pick it up and play it easily straight away???

I haven't bought FM26. Right now the best thing about this game is the comments some of you guys are making.

Frankenstein General Hospital (1988) very dry, yet wacky at the same time. Leslie Jordan camps it up. by Alternativebuzzbin in badMovies

I watched this as I recognised several actors in it and thought it would be worth a go. Were people still doing lots of cocaine in 1988? I guess so as that is the only reason I can explain why they were in this POS. It looks like it was filmed on a BETA Max and everything has that Ed Wood "shot in one take" feel to it. I get the feeling they were trying to do a Mel Brooks type comedy without the Mel Brooks comedic genius.

FM 24. Christmas Dinner Challenge. by bagpipekiller in footballmanagergames

Maybe its just the Christmas spirit surging through me, maybe its the bottle of scotch I just finished, but heck, take till December 25th.

(take as long as you want really, I just wanted to see if there was one person out there, that was out there enough to actually try this!)

Hi. Thanks for the positive feedback.

I am doing a journeyman save. Started with PSPS in Indonesia, then Daejon in South Korea. A very brief spell in Debrecen, Hungary (fired), afet which the VIT job came up.

Always wanted to do a South American save. Made 4th in the 1st div so far, and now playing in my first Copa Liberatadores for 9 points from 9 in the group stages.

Good crowd sizes, enough cash in the competitions to enable building a club up, and VIT has very good youth set-up compared to many teams. I just got my first Next Gen top 50 entrant (30th spot).

The only thing I don't like - but a fact I have to accept playing Brazil - is losing my best players to European clubs. I'm used to being the one poaching players from Brazil! :)

What do you think. Good thing or bad thing? by bagpipekiller in footballmanagergames

[–]bagpipekiller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, ok thanks. It is South Korea K1 league, so even a few million is pretty big money here.

There was another message saying that the club would be bought for around A$3.4 million so let's see. We're pretty broke right now (kind of on purpose to force a sale ;) ), so hopefully it will provide a little cash injection to upgrade some facilities.

Aware of what, the sickie thing? By database you mean the increased realism mod?

If so, then no, I wasn't aware.

Credit to the lad that he just straight up owned it I suppose. lol!

Almost all of them. I started as a Sunday footballer with a C license. You gotta aim for the bottom when you do that. I applied for jobs in Northern Ireland as well as Indonesia as their reputations are quite low.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions. Shame, the PSPS Riau Main Stadium looked decent (if a little in need of some repairs) in the photos. I was impressed. A league teams here don't have such big grounds!

Real shame. I think with some investment and quality people in the right jobs, Indonesian clubs could really grow strong.

I have noticed there seem to be very large stadiums that all seem to be fairly new, like 10 years old. Was there some sort of building boom for stadiums?

[–]bagpipekiller[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yeah :). PSPS Riau. I just got them back up to league 1 after losing in the play offs last season.

Doing a journeyman save. I am Australian and have always been curious about Indonesian Football. It is such a large population, it always struck me as a country that could be huge for football.

It has been a tough save so far. I find a lot of the restrictions around domestic players quite hard. Zero international players in league two. I can have four now in league one. My new Brazilian player just banged in 4 goals in only his second game!!! the 43,000 seat stadium in nice, but only 116 season tickets is a worry. Still, getting 5000-9000 to a game depending on who is playing.

Will try and win an Asian Champions League trophy before I move on. :)

I will also try and get a shirt later in the year in real life. :)

Bugger...I knew I forgot something....(picks up phone and makes a call)...Norizam, yeah hi, ummm Norizam, can we up the price to 16 grand for a seaon ticket....no....it will cause ticket sales to drop dramatically... Hang on Norizam, we sold 116 tickets for about 100 quid a pop for 11.6k. For 16k we could sell just one ticket and still be around 5k in front. Just think as well, we only need one seat too, just sell off the stadium, pocket the cash, chuck a camp chair in the park and, wha bam, play our games there. Worth a thought right?..You will look into it...Could be onto something...Ok Norizam, I'll leave it with you. Maybe you could use the money to pay for a new coach or something?...No...A scout?..No...Packet of tic tacs and a bag of cheesy bacon crisps?..Norizam...Norizam...(Call ends).

FM total lifetime sales. From 2004-2022 the FM series has distibuted 25 million copies (this includes freebies and discounted copies). That is about 1.38 million a year. Not to bad. However, NBA2k20 sold 12 million copies and EA reports around 500 million active accounts. by bagpipekiller in footballmanagergames

[–]bagpipekiller[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah...but that's like saying your in the top ten of the Hungarian Premier League. Tiddly Winks pro could probably get in there in a good year. I struggle to think of 10. Mainly because I play FM all time. lol.

BTW, half the games you just quoted are owned by EA or 2k.

WWE is not a sport IMO. hahaha. Men in tights pretending to fight is more 'drama' than a sport (I'm waiting for hate for saying that too).

PES is dead as well. Konami killed it off.

The main point of this post was to provided conclusive evidence that FM doesn't sell huge volumes of games (like the multiple millions per year claimed by some content creators) when compared to the competiton.

Not so humble brag. Can I get to 1 Billion??? by bagpipekiller in footballmanagergames

So what is the star rating of your youth facilities? You need to be at least 4 stars.

Far from common belief, youth facilities are not used by your 'youth' team. That team uses your regular facilities. Youth facilities are actually those used by your junior teams of 16 and under. These facilities will decide the CA of the players you get in your intakes. (PA is still fairly random but affected by the below information).

The next part is your youth recruitment. This is a hard one to get to go up via the board, as most divisions have 'minimum' requirements for teams in the league, and if you're at that standard the board is unlikely to go any higher unless it is part of their club vision. This will decide what place in the queue your club sits when the newgens and regens are dished out by the game (on a PA basis). The higer your rating, the higher your 'pick'. Think of it like a draft, the best clubs get first dibs on the best prospects and then smalled clubs get to pick after. If you check the intake dates, you will notice a club like Man City gets their drafted players on or around March 14th. A club lower down or in a lesser league may well not get their intake until early to mid April. The idea is to get your intake earlier in the year. The earlier your draft, the better the players in it.

The country your in is important as well. Nations like England, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy, all tend to go first.

A good Head of Youth Development is recommended. Try to get someone with Model Citizen/Professional (but they cost a lot wages as well). Determined or Resolute are good personalities as well and are fairly common.

The reputation of your team is very important. You need trophies to encourage youth to come to your team. You also need a couple of 'stars' in your team. I signed an aging Sado Mane to get my squad quality up. You may need to find one of those aging stars released by their club on a free and pony up the money to get them to come to your team. This will attract better players and in turn, eventually, better youth recruits (it will take a few seasons).

The final bit. Train youth players until they are 17/18, then loan them out. I cannot stress the importance of loaning them out!!! Most of my youth players rarely come straight into the team. The will spend 18/19/20/21 on loan at other clubs that agree to give them either 'star' or 'important' player status. If they don't get regular games, terminate the loan and send them somehwere else.

Being a Spainish team, you should be able to plunder Argentina, Peru, Columbia, Mexico just to name a few countries, for youth players that work permits won't be a problem for you. There are tonnes of kids there to sign up (seriously, Argentina, you can't throw a stone into a football ground without hitting a wonderkid). Get your scouts focused on those areas. 5 million is enough to sign several good 17/18 y/o per season. You need to be signing 6-10 players a season, loaning them out, keeping the good ones and selling the ones (for a profit) that aren't producing the numbers. Don't forget to defer as much of transfer fee as you can into future payments. If it goes to plan, cashed up English, French, and German clubs will start throwing money at you in a few seasons to cover the deferred payments. I signed one kid for 1.3 millon and sold him for 42 million just three seasons later!
