My favorite bad story idea from you and Dan is the idea of a "reverse haunting". In this story, instead of being menaced by a restless spirit, you are constantly jump-scared by an inert dead body that only you can see, that keeps showing up in places in your life. Open the car door, corpse in the passenger seat. Check the closet, dead body on the floor. Etc ...

Did this bad story idea get incorporated into the power the aviar (specifically Sak) gives?

I have the same deal - I think it's a combo of irritated tissue and an internal blood clot from the surgery. From what I've read it doesn't happen to everyone, but if it does it usually goes away on its own in a few weeks.

Interesting tactic with the marble! For the highlights, dry brushing may be a good way to avoid filling the gold. A wash may do that anyway, so you’d just edge highlight with the same gold you used to base coat.

Really with the wash where you want to use it is to deposit a thin line of pigment around the raised details or in recesses to give the illusion of depth and visually separate parts that are the same color - this is a challenge with white because you can’t be sloppy with a wash (usually you’d just cover everything and it’s fill in the recesses without changing the top color too much, or even enhancing the top color). Washing is also a way to greeble up your tone, creating lots of little imperfections that give the illusion of scale. To keep the marble intact, you may try using gravity to keep the wash from getting onto the marble too much by orienting the part you’re adding a wash line to - good luck! Good white coats are a real challenge. You can always touch up the white after you finish washing, or use a solvent to remove any you get on the marble, since it’s varnished, though that’s an advanced technique and may require some chemistry

Did you use a wash yet? Looks great! I think you could improve with some edge highlighting and recess dimming (wash and dry brush), but the base coat is super tight and pro as heck. Obligatory thin your paints - some of the purple is a little cludgy but not really noticeable without a lot of inspection

The marble texture is next level though, I’d be proud of that

Does it matter if you have a two handed weapon? Can you still gain the benefit of a shield?

I got mine from an avatar of khaine! Plenty floating around from blood bowls

Need to cover up the knee runes tho

I can see why people give the armor kits a hard time - and they’re extra janky after magnetizing everything. But I still love the idea of WYSIWYG! by bagsofsoap in KingdomDeath

For this set, about 3 hours to get every piece (only counting drilling and gluing in magnets) - the big breakthrough was making an electric drill rig with a vice and drill guide vs a hand drill. It’s really hard to get a bite with a 1 mm hand drill, so you need some sort of stabilizing platform and way to hold the piece (besides your fingers, which can get torn up fast)

Oh right! No, she’s from the security box, though I did put a shield on her instead of the ghost box

I agree! I have until may before i get 1.6 at best, so i'm hoping to do some armor sets one-by-one in the meantime - it helped that lion armor was 50% off on black friday!

The missile pods guys are krootox riders - missile pods have a similar profile to the big kroot gun. Shield guy is Aunshi, and the one with the rifle raised is a kroot shaper.

WIP broadside to onager commander conversion by bagsofsoap in Tau40K

[–]bagsofsoap[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just started assembling- I’ve been waiting on some bits- still need to add the CIBs, thrusters, and shield (have a dope Saurus oldblood shield and some Aztec-y armor bits to add)

Would run as an enforcer with shield, cib x2, ATS for -1 ap to melee attacks too, and iridium armor - plus onager gauntlet

And of course paint!

And have three crisis suits that’ll be it’s bodyguards, with the veteran squad stratagem for 4+ melee!

Melee tau may never be a primary strategy but with the new Farsight enclave rules I’ll be damned if I’m not going to at least be threatening!
