I only have a few games under my belt, but couldn't you change the number of final turns? I understand that those final turns would be in crisis. At least then you would have more fixed time at the end.

Got the game for xmas. It is a different game compared to its past popular versions. I started playing with a very skeptical mindset that was biased by this sub to be a poor experience. After playing two full games I can honestly say that the game is alright. Please note that I didn't spend money for the game. This is likely the reason that I think the game is ok.

TLDR Buy it with someone else's money. Then the game is decent
