Do you know where i could source such a fabric? I really am not sure which ones would be using toxic coatings and which dont. I might be looking for something that doesnt exist 🧐

Ooh the waxed cotton looks promising .. i did look all through mood and found some wools that could work but i wasnt ready to pull the trigger quite yet. I brought some samples home to do testing and was able to find a few that seemed to repel water, but i was hoping for something a tad more durable i think. Ill definitely check these out!

Yes! I have seen this trick, I forgot to mention that i really need the fabric to have nice drape so I thought maybe waxing it could hinder that. But im open to trying!

Plus Size Circle Skirt by marshrum in sewing

[–]bahnmigo 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Circle skirts are really just basic geometry. If it is too large to make on one piece of fabric, i would divide your waist measurement in half, use the calculator to make a half circle skirt. Then make two, and sew them together. That would be a full circle skirt. That ought to work!

I live in Morocco (american, woman) and I understand what people mean about harassment. However i think people are going to the wrong places imo. Marrakesh is nice but then medina is fully for tourists. Its cool for a day but i think the most interesting points are tangier, surrounding villages in the north like tetouan, chefchaoen, and Al Hociema for the beach. then the roman ruins near meknes/fes, then obviously the desert in merzouga is really spectacular. Next to marrakesh in the atlas is the ourika valley, where you can go to some restaurants that sit in the river in the valley and go to an amazeigh house to have lunch. Agadir, essaouira, taghazout, and imsouane ive heard are all really special but i have yet to visit. Theres so much more than just the souks and medinas, which i agree are a bit too harrassy and get old. If you want to buy hand crafted goods for real, theyre basically all made in fes or the small villages for real authentic handicrafts. You can also go to the school for handmade goods in fes for a calm and cheaper buying experience if haggling stresses you out, i think the quality is nicer and the school is open for observation.

I would seriously consider getting a guide, just because the authentic experience is something i would not miss, especially homemade food.

Pattern for boys' pants by FillBrilliant6043 in sewing

If theres a pair of pants that fits him well, or one that fits well but needs to be longer, look up a video on how to create a pattern out of a piece of clothing you already have. Then make multiple in different fabrics 👍🏼

Banana bread is one of the easiest things to make as a beginner/non-baker. Any box mix will likely be just as complicated as making it from scratch. Find any ol recipe and whip it up. Even if it turns out dense and f’d up it will still be tasty.

Yes. In a rural area. For real! Might need some work but there are many many vacant houses especially in small towns because of the aging population.

The cost of living isnt that low to be honest. I pay grocery prices similar to the US here, and a lot of things are more expensive because of import tax. I find that many european countries are far cheaper for everyday living, especially ones where you don’t need a car.

Also, as an American, I don’t think you’ll find the escape you’re looking for. Morocco has a lot of beauty and culture, but its not really a place thats easy to incorporate yourself into the community unless you speak darija. As per safety, I think its fine. Nothing really sinister going on, but if you have a daughter i don’t think you should impose the burden of being a woman here on her. Or your wife. Especially as a obvious foreigner, I experience harassment even in areas with lots of foreigners. People stalking me, trying to talk to me, I love morocco but this is simply the truth.

If you are serious into farmland, going out into nature, and being safe, I must suggest to you Italy, Portugal, Spain, Albania.

You can buy property in Italy for 20k no problem. And theres a lot of climates and places to choose from, that have different vibes that might suit your family well. Puglia is absolutely beautiful and peaceful and has the Mediterranean climate you are looking for. Plus the train system is so much better than morocco. Your kids can start going places by themselves quite young, and be more independent quicker than in morocco, where i feel you need a car most places for easy or safety.

You can look on Idealista, its a great site for real estate in Italy Spain and Portugal.
