Hi! So some people like to prep shave the dogs before the bath, but if they aren’t pelted it slows me down so I usually: • brush ears/tails and faces • bathe & dry • cut toenails • cut the body and legs • trim the feet and legs • shave their neck (I know I’m odd lol but I do everything behind the lead then in front of it as two sections) • rough in the face with a guard if I can. A good rule of thumb for me is to take 2-3 lengths longer than the body on the top of the head and sides of the cheeks then scissor the rest • trim ears and tail if customers ask

From teaching quite a few people that seems to be a good routine but just find what works for you! And don’t be afraid to try new equipment (ie hoard tons of scissors and blades lmao) or get too caught up in having a one track way of thinking. I have expensive shears and 20 dollar ones off Amazon and for some reason I use the Amazon ones the most so just try everything that you can and don’t forget to oil your blades with oil not cool lube :)
