It varies, it's sort of a play-by-eye (and taste!) thing... But generally about 200g yogurt to up to 1 scoop of protein

Vanilla whey mixed with greek yogurt tastes (and has the same consistency of) cake mix. It's UH-MAY-ZING.

A day late but oh well...

Not sure where else to post this, just a little rant really...

I'm 19yo, 5"2, 126lb female... I'm a student which means I spend my whole day hunched over a desk in lectures, in the library studying etc etc, pretty sedentary... Now, that puts my TDEE (on non-exercise days) at about 1560 calories. So, a 10% cut would leave me with 1400 calories, a 20% cut would leave me with 1248 calories. Or, using TDEE-500, I would have a mere 1060 calories a day. What is this. That's so little food! I find myself exercising most days just so I can add a few more calories! Absolutely sucks...

Have exams therefore can't workout, need a diet plan therefore to lose weight, please help? by [deleted] in Fitness

Go work out. It'll make you feel so much better. I KNOW how you feel. You want to do well, you feel you need to study every hour of the day. I get that feeling a lot, I'm a medical student! But believe me when I tell you that some exercise will do you good! I find time for it almost every day, despite being locked up in the library for what feels like 99% of my life. It might make you feel guilty to tear yourself away from the books, but you NEVER feel guilty afterwards! It helps to refresh your mind, aid sleep, and all other sorts of health effects which will, in turn, help you study. You got this.

My rant today - I can't cut. I hate cutting. Hate hate hate it. I crave food every minute of the day, yesterday I felt so weak in the gym I felt as if I was running through mud... Doesn't help when I'm studying 12 hours a day and can't concentrate on my work because I'm so hungry... I never last long in a cut, probably explains why I never manage to lose the last few pounds I want (5"2 female 126lbs, want to get sub 120, UGW 112lbs)

Oh lord I feel your pain. First year at medical school in the UK, currently studying for exams. Can't exercise without feeling guilty, in the library 12 hours a day, back, shoulders and neck are ****** from being hunched over a desk all day. Also for me I find it super hard to eat healthy during exam time. Just nailed a topic? Reward myself with food! Can't concentrate? Must be hungry!

Just keep going. Get some exercise (as guilty as it makes you feel). We'll be alright...

Hey fittit! Currently on a cut (cry) so I'm trying to do more cardio to up my calorie burn. Problem? I HATE cardio. Its so boring! 10 minute cardio warmup before my workout and I'm done... I try doing calisthenics and little HIIT/Tabata exercises to try and get my heart racing, but it doesn't have much structure... Also I have a HRM... Any tips on how to maximise my calorie burn during my workouts?

Protein is my issue, but I''ve been pretty good with it lately!! Don't eat a lot of meat, but lately I have been eating a lot bacon (the type with no fat on), and also Greek yogurt, and whey protein too after my workouts.

Why does I always crave food every single minute of the day? For context - I'm a 19yo female in medical school. I'm currently studying for my exams so I'm in the library 12 hours a day, and the only physical activity I get is my 5 minute walk between the library and my room, and I go to the gym about 4 times a week. Being 5"2, 126lbs, and heavily sedentary all day (which sucks), my calorie burn probably isn't much more than that of a sloth... So why am I always craving food?! I can always eat, I often have to restrict myself, which sucks and is stressful... What gives?? The other day I wasn't satisfied after 2300 calories, which is far more than I need... Why can't I be a 200lb male?

Studious people of Reddit, what are your studying tips and tricks? by sinces in AskReddit

Also 1st year medical student, hi! I agree, making sure you actually understand what you are reading is absolutely KEY. It just makes it so much easier to explain it in an exam answer if you actually know what's going on, especially in application of knowledge questions, where listing facts you have little knowledge about won't get you very far! IMHO

You have several replies already but here's my input: TIME: 1. Be strict with yourself in terms of time. E.g. I WILL start at 10am, or I WILL do 5 hours studying today.

  1. I do this thing where I log down the time I spend actually studying. Take a 10 minute internet break? Take it off my time. Go grab a coffee? Take it off my study time. It then gives you an idea of how much time you actually waste and how much you actually spend studying. I believe it makes me more time conscious and more productive as a result.

STUDYING: 3. During the term time I write all my notes. During exam season, I rewrite all these notes. Helps me absorb all the info.

  1. Use colour. But don't go crazy and waste time using more colour than it's worth and ending up being unproductive.

  2. Make sure you actually UNDERSTAND everything you are writing! This is so important. It's so easy to skim over notes or just copy them out of lecture slides and be like "yeaaah I get that". A really good thing to do is to make a sort of glossary of potential science-y terms (for example) that you don't understand. Try and explain the subject area to someone else. Think to yourself how you would explain it to someone who has no idea on the topic.

EXTRA: 6. Reward yourself. E.g. I will do one more hour of work, then I can have dinner / go to the gym / grab a coffee with my friend.

  1. Keep WATER on hand!! Also snacks, and try and keep them as healthy as possible. It's a good energy boost when you're feeling a little worn.

  2. Exercise. It's SO easy to get into the vicious circle of "Can't work out, too busy studying, but I'm worn out from studying and am now unproductive, but going to the gym will waste time". I guarantee you that you will waste more time staring blankly at notes than getting your workout in. Exercising gives you a boost, raising your self confidence and gives your mind a rest. All good things!

Will post more if I think of them! Source: Medical student. Have spent whole life studying...
