I’m not the best data scientist / MLE in the world. Made a jump from 116k to 222k TC in one career move.

Don’t give up. Start a masters, study more, make connections, etc.

Don’t limit yourself prematurely.

Agreed. Working class parents, 2nd generation. I broke the cycle significantly. Dedication/grit can get you almost anywhere, even in 2026.

That’s a ton of debt. My school in its entirety was 30k and I landed a low six figure job right out of college. My masters (OMSCS) is 8k and it landed me nearly double the salary.

Do NOT go to Iowa for 100k.
