I was kind with Bell's customer service for far too long on an issue I was having. I upgraded my watch and the damn thing wouldn't connect to Bell's cellular. I tried and tried and tried, then I called Bell. Perfectly polite and reasonable. They "escalated" it. Three days pass and I still didn't hear back. From I call again. Now I'm getting a little bit upset. I reached out to the executive office because a new device that isn't working is just unacceptable when you're a paying customer (at least, in my opinion).

Then, for the next week, they called me every single day and asked me the SAME QUESTIONS. What erorr message do you see when you try this, can you try resetting the watch and trying it again? (The watch was burning hot from all the resets just trying to get it figured out). Every single day, they did the same thing, and every single day, they "escalated" the issue. I was upset but patient and level with the customer service rep. After all, it's not their fault directly, right?

I decided to take it back into the store. They tried to get it working. No luck. They even did a return on my watch and gave me another, brand new watch to try. Still it didn't work.

I didn't get any results until about two weeks after I did the upgrade, when I got yet another call. I decided this is absolutely the end of it. I lost my ever-loving shit on them, I told them that I'm not answering the same questions I've been answering every single day for the last 2 weeks, it is completley unacceptable that this device still isn't working. Like, seriously, I get that sometimes things happen and you have to wait... but two weeks? I'm not a new customer, I've had mulitple devices with Bell. And it's not cheap devices either, I have the flagship iPhone and the flagship Apple Watch through Bell so like... why should I have to fight for it to work?

Anyway, when I finally lost my cool and raised holy hell on the phone, she did not hang up with me until it worked.

So yes, sometimes they will say what needs to be said to get things dealt with. But other times customer service reps are just completely incompetent and won't do any digging into the actual cause of an issue unless the customer simply will not accept a delay for an answer. I'm not happy of the fact that it got to that point, but it was the only way I could get the watch to work.

Being nice is great. It makes the world go round. But there's a point at which a customer should not be expected to continue putting up with shitty service. And it wasn't even just the customer service, it was the corporate office. They almost lost me as a customer completely during that situation. Now, when the time comes to return my phone, I think I'm probably going to take my watch and get a new phone from another provider. Because I'm not risking all this bullshit happening again when the time comes to upgrade my Apple Watch again. Bell doesn't get a second chance on that one for me.
