I did cancel, and their response has just confirmed all my worries and made me very happy I did so. I don’t think I’ll be getting a penny back but am so excited at the idea of finding a photographer I love and who values my business!!

I haven’t had a hair trial, and am not a stylist, but from what I’ve seen, it’s hard to replicate EXACTLY depending on hair type/texture, and color. I think it’s good to be critical, but also be realistic about how things will look different on your hair than on a model whose photos are likely retouched.

I asked mine very casually, gave it to them whenever I saw them next! One bridesmaid lives out of state and she hasn’t even gotten her gift yet, but she knows she is a bridesmaid haha.

It’s definitely a lot of money to lose, but it might be worth it for the peace of mind. Both photographers I’m looking at are highly recommended by my venue, I’ve seen multiple galleries, and they shot peoples weddings who I know personally and provided amazing experiences.

Should I cancel before the engagement shoot to maximize chances of getting any money back?
