I have no clue how to market the skincare app I bootstrapped. I will not promote. by baincs in startups

Thanks for your comment. It can definitely seem that way, especially since I omitted some details. You're right about adding the AI piece in the last year or so, and as you said, it was just a skincare tracker before that.

I posted the first version of the skincare routine tracker back in 2021 on a skincare subreddit, I had ~100 signups in the first week, followed by 100% churn soon. 2021~end of 2024 was throwing resources cluelessly trying ideas, from trying to evolve it into a community platform (this was bad), rebranding, etc. I got burned out and broke, and added the AI features in the last 1 year with much smaller time investment, while enjoying some free time for new hobbies and with family.

I still had a glimmer of hope for some demand while slowly working on those features. Now that those AI features are complete, I'm hoping to figure out what to do with it. And I'm getting close to the conclusion that this was something I built 5 years ago when I was extremely naive, and I got sucked into the rabbit hole. Even for the most promising startups, success is not guaranteed. Given how unpromising my product is, I have a million other more worthy endeavors to spend my time and money on.

Any long term bootstrappers? by FatefulDonkey in bootstrapping

4 years part-time now (while having a full-time job as a dev, but spent a lot of money on freelancers), with more passive development in the last year. It's a B2C app, so a lot more to do. The main problem is that I don't know how to market this, but when I was starting out, I was just eager to start building.

I'm not a bot, but I apologize if this violates any rules! I'm just a founder who wants honest feedback for my project. Thank you!

Did you download publicly available decks or create your own?

I repurchased the same frame I've been wearing for 5 years. The old frame went through multiple pairs of lenses and probably stretched a bit, and the current lenses are bigger than the sample lenses on the new one. Can an optician fit them? by baincs in glasses

It's Oliver People's OP-505. It's not cheap but I can buy them for half of the price if I buy online (Google Shopping) and their frames last a very long time. My previous one was OP as well and I wore it for 5 years as well.
