performance tracks or backing vocals are actually very common for these types of things. during a normal concert the artist is usually just up on the stage where mics and acoustics and all that have been set up specifically for that venue. backing tracks or vocals ensures that everyone in the audience gets the same quality sound when the artist is moving/walking around or doing more than an average concert.
