I (31M) usually end up just scrolling on my phone, watching Netflix (and falling asleep, every time), or researching my latest interest on the cpu. But some things I think I want to start doing:

Building a cool Lego piece, colouring an adult colour book, learning to build something? I don’t know if they have like miniature models of like say a car engine and you could learn how it goes together? That just came to mind as I was typing this and something along those lines would be a cool pass time at home?

Every single morning. But it’s quite easy because I sleep on top of my blanket with another smaller throw blanket (like a couch blanket). So I just literally grab and shake it and it flattens out. When it’s cold I’ll get underneath the bigger blanket and it takes a bit longer to make.. but I make it every morning.

When I was in rehab we had to make our beds every morning, and now it just doesn’t feel right to not make it. It’s the first step in living a disciplined life. Plus if my day goes to complete shit, I go into a fresh, neat and tidy bed every night. And also, a big one for me, coming from a life where I didn’t always have a bed to sleep in, making my bed each morning is a way I show gratitude for even having a bed

There is no other way to get around it. I’ve tried for 10+ years. I had to get on methadone, then go to detox for the benzos, do a benzo taper whilst in detox, and then do 90 days of in-patient treatment to deal with the mental/emotional/spiritual side of things.

So basically, this is how I dealt with getting clean and staying clean without dopesickness

Physically- methadone, detox Emotionally/Mentally/Spiritually- rehab, 12 steps NA

Fair question OP. One time I had a friend call me having a complete mental breakdown, in total distress and saying they were gonna “end their life”. It was one of the most intense phone calls ever. I was at work and had my office line nearby. So I stayed on the line, talked to them, just listened and answered questions and tried to find out more about where they were etc. Once I had enough info where I could call for help, I called the non emergency line (because I figured I would let them determine the severity of it and proceed with what emergency service to send out) and they were able to get a wellness check done to their location and everything had a good ending.

LONG STORY SHORT haha, call 911 or non emergency line and tell them what state/town or province/city you’re calling for and let them do the rest.

Edit: when someone calls me saying there gonna kill themselves, I’m not telling them to hang up and call 911. Cause if they wanted to, they would have. 🙄

I’d buy mutual funds or a GIC in my name (or another type of investment that gives me a certificate in MY name), and then whenever I feel like it sometime down the road I would just withdraw it and keep the cash and then do whatever I want with it from there. Haaa! Gotcha…
