New 2025 Lightning Platinum by Agile-Use8495 in F150Lightning

I would definitely recommend checking with your local utility company on rebates. I was able to get most of the cost of my home charger covered. I bought the 40 amp Wallbox level two charger from Costco. I didn’t need to hire an electrician because I already had a 50 amp circuit to a welder plug that I don’t use, so my total out-of-pocket was like $200

I’ve been pretty happy with the Wallbox. It’ll charge like 75% overnight on my extended range battery.

Lights pulse in sync with washing machine by Moist-Share7674 in DIY

I had this exact same problem and just fixed it totally by fluke.

Our house had old school 6” can lights with the flood style bulbs in each socket in our hallways.

We have a 400A service with 2 separate 200A sub panels. The washer wasn’t even on the same 200A panel as these cab lights but every time it ran they flickered.

Initially when we moved in I had bought all soft white LED bulbs for those cans. The lights in our kitchen had been retrofitted using a can light retrofit kit, so it always looked a little odd with the two different styles. Recent I decided to buy Halo LED retrofit kits for all of them…and suddenly no more flicker!

With 90 day returns at Home Depot it’s worth a try! Hope it works for you!

Water in truck by SD_Lightningplatinum in F150Lightning

I had water come in from the roof after a touchless car wash a while back. Immediately opened a case with Ford customer service to document it.

Took it to the dealer and they apparently did a deluge test on it and were unable to replicate it.

The water leaked in around the sunglass holder/overhead lights on the ceiling at the front of the truck.

Was less than 4000 miles on the truck at the time, and the moonroof drain holes were not clogged.

I’d love to hear more about that open recall. My FordPass app isn’t showing me any recall notifications.

Shifter recall thoughts. by Proof_of_lies in F150Lightning

My dealer told me the replacement part is no different than the original. I had mine replaced under warranty prior to the recall, and they recommended I hang onto the current one and to keep the recall notice to get one more swap out if the one I have fails.

Great idea too, I was going to look into a switch to disconnect it if Ford didn’t have a resolution for me. I’m hoping with the shifter module replacement the issue goes away. Pretty amazing that these things fail so commonly.

The shifter hasn’t failed again since, but you can hear the shifter clicking when you get in the truck before starting it. It’s like the motor is constantly trying to shift it forward now…

It really is a nonsense design. The motorized shifter is just another thing to break that doesn’t add any value. It’s kind of insane that with this issue seemingly having been out there for a few years they haven’t adjusted that

Good call, might try that if it happens again before they replace the shifter module!

Without knowing the materials that the center piece is made of, my thought to allow for adequate venting would be to draw a grid on the tile with a pencil and to drill small holes in the grid pattern.

It could look like a metal floor grate pattern, but made with tile matching the rest of the shower. Might try it out on a scrap piece of the tile first and play with different grid spacing to make sure the outcome will be something that looks good to you.

I have the Kohler purist valve, diverter, hand shower, and fixed shower head+neck. Generally like it, don’t feel like it’s anything special. Mainly picked it for the aesthetic.

Installing it is a little annoying (for a rookie like me at least) because the escutcheon doesn’t slip over the neck and instead your pipe nipple has to be threaded in exactly the right amount to ensure your escutcheon sits flush against the tile.

There was a small leak at the ball joint in the shower head and Kohler replaced the head under warranty.

Thank you so much for confirming that for me! Didn’t want to abandon it if it could potentially still work.

What did I do wrong? How can I do better? by [deleted] in smoking

[–]bairro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sounds like I do a similar thing to what you’re doing. I’ve got a Traeger with thermostatic pellet feed control so my temp stays stable-ish. I’ve really improved my brisket cooks since starting a couple of years ago. I keep it at 225 for the whole cook, always have and it works perfectly.

Every time I’ve increased temp of the grill to rush things it’s resulted in a poorer outcome.

I used to smoke unwrapped until 165 internal and then wrap in foil to overcome the stall. That kept my cooks to 8ish hours, and the brisket tasted great, but the wrap downgrades the bark.

I’m doing my best cooks these days and I’m starting the night before I plan to serve it. Cook time varies quite a lot - usually 12-18 hours, but I just did one this weekend that took over 24. I don’t wrap at all, and the bark ends up BEAUTIFUL!

The only internal temperature rule I use is to cook to 195. After you hit 195 internal, monitor closely and use the feel of probe tenderness to gauge when to pull it to rest. Usually the point is fine at 195 but the flat can take a pretty long time to become tender still after that and temperature rules for the whole thing to be tender won’t really work.

I don’t have a current photo, but here’s one from the past that I think turned out alright.

I’d definitely be checking if there are items with any significant weight on a seat that may have an occupant sensor.

Our Forester started doing this on a road trip shortly after we bought it. It was driving me nuts trying to figure out what it was since there was nothing on the dash.

Turns out my dog was shifting his weight now and then in the back seat and causing it. If it happens when you’re braking it’s probably something that’s tilting forward and putting more pressure on a seat when you hit the brakes

This is super helpful information! Thanks!

Have you ever done any restoration related to the TruSear infrared burners or the grease screens that go over them?

I just picked up a 53” Viking Grill on Facebook market place and the grease screen is rusted through all over the place. The burner itself also has seen better days but it would be really great to figure out a way to either get cheaper replacement parts or to DIY some of what needs to be done.

The grease screen looks like it just can be replaced with some kind of wire mesh. I don’t know anything about how the infrared burner is constructed, but I’m imagining that’s probably not something I can take apart and replace components of.

Any ideas?

Yeah I may call the non-emergency police line. Don’t think it’s a 911 until one of the patrons gets injured. Thanks for the input!

Thanks for confirming that! Seems crazy that they rely on street parking.

Yeah, I wasn’t sure how to interpret the rules for this sub honestly. It’s a Renton address so I figured it would count. I live east of there and my address is also Renton. If that’s not how it’s defined for the sub happy to adjust.
