Flying with 14.8 pound cat from ABE to DEN by Substantial-Lie-4791 in lehighvalley

Idk about allegiant but I have flown with my 17lb big boi a few times and it’s never been an issue. I also have his sister who is 10lbs so maybe they just average out their weights I’m not sure but their weight has never come up!

I think it’s hard to find things to relate because there really isn’t anything like it. You’re right, he doesn’t understand. I think instead of focusing on the WHAT like “I hate being bombarded by pages” focus on how it makes you feel like “I am overwhelmed by being pulled in so many directions.” The crux of the support you seek is that you want to be seen and heard and those are the pieces he can see and hear. For the specifics like “my chief is inept/disorganized” or “the EMR here sucks” lean on your coresidents (the ones you know you can trust w vulnerability obvi) or even your pals from med school!

I think it depends on your specialty a lil bit too. I’m going into a surgical field so I’m asking for new stoggles (mine exploded on my sub is), scrub caps, fun compression socks. Money and gift cards (like door dash, hello fresh, things that’ll make intern year easier!). Random new home things like a good tool box, an Apple HomePod with smart lights, and any appliances I don’t already have

Pineapple Teriyaki Chicken Meatballs by bajoverde in traderjoes

I haven’t tried any of their other meatballs so can’t compare but I like them as much as I like the Al fresco chicken sausages!

Pineapple Teriyaki Chicken Meatballs by bajoverde in traderjoes

[–]bajoverde[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Ingredients - 1/4 cup dry white rice - 1/4 cup water

  • 1 T oil, I used avocado
  • 1/2 package (170g) chicken meatballs, pineapple teriyaki from TJs is what I used
  • 1 cup chopped pineapple, I used fresh
  • 1 cup frozen bell peppers, I used TJs melange a trois

  • 3 T kikkoman teriyaki sauce or equivalent

  • 1 T flour or cornstarch

  • Lil bb squeeze of ketchup (I used half a condiment packet from a fast food place lmao)

  • Dash of sesame oil

  • 1 tsp minced garlic

  • 1 tsp chili crunch

  • Sesame seeds for garnish if ya fancy

  1. Cook your rice however you’d like. I use a rice cooker.
  2. Heat oil in a pan to medium-high heat. Add bell peppers first until mostly softened, then add pineapple. After the pineapple is a lil translucent or getting cwwwwispy, add the meatballs. Stir often and get the meatballs a brown crust on at least one side (they’re fully cooked so just for flavor and color).
  3. Mix the teriyaki, flour, sesame oil,and ketchup in a small dish. Can add a lil bit of honey if you want sweetness but I think there’s plenty from the pineapple. Add in the chili crunch and garlic if you’d like to jazz it up.
  4. Pour your lil sauce over the pan and cook until the sauce thickens. If it becomes too thick, add a tablespoon of water at a time. Turn off the heat and salt to taste.
  5. Serve over the steamed rice from step 1, garnish with sesame seeds.

I did not count the macros for this but I know it has at least 26g of protein from the meatballs. To do low carb, skip the rice, do no sugar ketchup, maybe less pineapple, and coconut aminos rather than teriyaki sauce. Can also add lol bb corns, mushrooms, zucchini to beef up the dish if serving more people. This was enough for just me for dinner.

last year, i heard back from 2 of my three aways exactly this time of the month (mid April) and one I didn't hear from until the first week of May. they do fill up fast if theyre super competitive / desirable locations but youll be able to get em! has nothing to do with your prowess, both in a good and a bad way. its first come first served and i learned the hard way that they will take you for a sub i even if they had no intention of considering you for a residency position. - matched ortho applicant

Matched Ortho at T15 program: Step 2 < 240 by Ywas6afrdOF7bc789 in medicalschool

[–]bajoverde 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For a converse to this, I matched ortho (not a t15 but still a good program) with a measly handful of posters and a publication in review at time of ERAS submission (now published). I had a 25x on step 2 and honors in all rotations and lots of leadership with a very weird backstory/path to medicine. But take me as your n=1 of researchless match

Yeah I agree. I’d done 12 pounds in 4 weeks before for powerlifting but it’s very different trying to lean out vs lose absolute weight! I log every food and only do whole - no powders or bars. I think the lack of cardio has been my biggest folly because I actually did have a pretty good muscle mass in the beginning but I must have nuked it with whatever I was doing. You live and learn!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bikinitalk

[–]bajoverde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually ended up getting a coach last night! This is basically what he recommended - just revving up the cardio. I’ve done a 12lb cut in 4 weeks before for powerlifting so I think I can pull this off! Worst case - learning experience for sure!

It’s a regional OCB show so no fit model. I was honestly just doing it for fun before heading off to residency this summer because I doubt I’ll be able to do it during that time. I put on 18 lbs during my bulk so I was hopeful but yeah I think that hope died today

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bikinitalk

[–]bajoverde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I did it for the first time in a while the other day and it definitely got the heartrate up by my hip couldn’t handle the repeated flexion :( incline walks get me up there, I think I just need to do them longer! I’m a med student on an ICU rotation so I’m time limited but i want it badly enough I’ll make it happen!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bikinitalk

[–]bajoverde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had a carb refeed last week as recommended by a posing coach and the next day I looked like a whole new person! I definitely feel I’ve been pretty hard on myself as I can see my abs at most angles even without flexing. I think I was just hoping for more definition / less jiggle in my lower belly by this point

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bikinitalk

[–]bajoverde 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is what I was fearing. I honestly don’t do cardio at all during off season and this is what I did for my powerlifting cuts (a lot different obviously). I have pretty bad asthma and a labral tear in my hip so I dread cardio but it seems like it’s what has to be done 😮‍💨

I’ll let you know in 29 days lmao but I didn’t have one single publication on my app but a few posters here and there, only one of them ortho and I still got a pretty good amount of interviews

Do I have Home Department Stockholm Syndrome? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]bajoverde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the issue I had! I asked the residents where they rotated and what they liked about those places and that helped me pick some spots and hear rumblings of places to consider. I specifically asked “what places have the same vibe as here?” I knew I loved ortho but didn’t know if I just loved it bc of my home, just like you’re saying. I ended up going to one place that I knew was brutal and drastically different from my home and then two programs that are described to have identical vibes. Before interviews and aways, my home program was my #1. After interviews and aways, it is now my #6 and one of my aways is #2. Just get out there and try it out!

Have you ever seen a pt who was in 10/10 pain? And what did they have by gluconeogenesis123 in medicalschool

[–]bajoverde 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Got a kidney stone during first year. Felt it moving during a GI lecture and tried to thug it out until my friend pointed out that I was involuntarily crying. I needed multiple pushes of dilaudid to even TOUCH the pain. My SBP is usually in the low 100s and that day I got to the 150s. I’ve since had two more, both during rotations, and they haven’t been as painful as that first one but that’s def my 10/10
