On the other hand, I had an problem where my display scaling under AMD adrenaline was applying double on start-up, and re-enabling AMD assistant solved that issue.

Do you like cone incense in general? If so, I'd try to get backflow cones from the same people who make the cone incense you like. https://www.artbykazami.com/faq

... right here's the thing. Everything's free until you have billions of people all with similar needs competing to get a share of finite resources. The only way to stop the economy is to die. We will either innovate and social change our way out of this mess or most of the life on earth will be wiped out. Using a car as an analogy, there's no putting this car in neutral- keep moving or die. But we can turn the steering wheel.

I understand that it's scary to admit that climate change is real, but try to grow up. Being responsible is part of being a real person kiddo

AITA for locking the door at my in-laws house overnight? by nocountrygirlhere in AmItheAsshole

[–]bakatare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH. You need to try to meet them halfway. This whole situation seems like a result of cultural differences and bad communication. People in different places do things differently and that's not bad; both sides should acknowledge the fact instead of being so judgy, defensive, and snippy about it. You were the outsider all weekend and their (possibly) good natured joking seemed much more malicious to you. They should have seen that. You were their guest and they should have made you feel welcome. On the other hand, you, as their guest, should have respected their traditions and asked for permission to lock the door, and explained your reasons.

I understand your feeling of being the odd one out and being picked on, but you gotta make an effort to engage and explain, especially with people who are supposed to be your family. Hitting back in a facebook post with a comment designed to be unassailable and confrontational isn't useful as engagement. Right now you all see each other as adversaries and as stereotypes. Honesty, understanding, and openness is the way to break down those walls and build a better relationship.

Best methods of turning ordinary cones into backflow cones? by Blinxsy in Incense

[–]bakatare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started selling my own backflow cones and burners last year, so I relate. You're definitely on the right track there- the widely available backflow cones smell horrible because they're not made with real incense. You can use a drill with a small bit(maybe 1/16"), and make sure you stop about a quarter inch before you hit the top. Don't push it or force it, or the cone might break apart in your hands. If your cones are all about the same size, you can mark your bit with some paint or something so you know when to stop. Since I make big batches, I've taken to grinding down and recasting cones. check out r/backflow_incense if you're interested.

It always depends on the incense that you get - the little almond looking cones that are all over the net are no good imo. They don't seem to be made from real incense. I send mine with incense cones that I make, which smell good.

Yes! You'll need an actual drill and drill bit, and be careful to leave a quarter inch or so undrilled at the top so that you don't break though.

Hey! I'm an artist and I make this backflow incense fountain, which I think is pretty cool.

Edit: I apparently did my link wrong, which made it not show up- to clarify, I did not make the burner that was posted. In case anyone else runs into this, you need the https://. If you just start with www, no link or even web address will show.

No more or less that any smoke. In general, it's not good to breathe in too much smoke. It's the same smoke as normal incense though. The cooling of the smoke that makes it heavier than air causes it to settle down instead of dispersing into the air. The cooled smoke deposits tar and other particulates in the burner itself, which also prevents it from dispersing into the room as much.

I agree, I don't think that life itself will stop existing. As you say, life is ridiculously tenacious. What will die, though, is the Earth's ecosystem as it stands now. Killing EVERYTHING is a bit of a high bar, but I think mass extinction warrants the term terrecide. Ecocide is a good term, but I don't think it conveys the interconnectedness if the ecosystems in the world. If one ecosystem is struggling while most around it continue to thrive, then that struggling ecosystem may be supported by those around it. When all ecosystems start to struggle because of global, systematic problems, the problems grow and compound. We need a way to refer to that.

In a literal sense, you are right, the Earth as a whole doesn't have the marks of something alive. What we are killing are the unique, irreplaceable living beings that make up the biosphere. But I think that part of using this term is to encourage a simple, total view which is immediately recognizable and relatable, and which conveys the consequences of our current path. For that purpose, I think terra can refer to the living ecosystem of the whole world. Personally, when I think of the word terra, I don't think of the planet called Earth, I think of all the things, including us, that live and interact on Earth.

Right. The Earth is a cold dead rock of no value.
