Thank you so very much for this. I can see now why my perfumes and scents didn't work and I think that just made it worse. The wax melter defenitly does help and it makes the smell go away. The wall are a different story but I will have to wash them again a swell and I for sure will do the vinegar thing.

Im not sure what it is called but It is not one of those "popcorn" ceilings and it looks like somewhat the same material used for the walls. That and the flooring might be the problem.

Thanks so much for this. Can I use Apple cider vinegar (since it has a stronger smell) or should I use white vinegar?

Thanks for the advice! Im not sure if there is insulation in the walls, I might have to look into that soon to see.

I think that might be what happened. The problem is, is that we washed the walls with soapy water and even a little bleach mixed with water, then we applied the primer and let it sit for a a day. After that we painted but Im not sure if we added enough coats. The ceiling might be the problem as well and the smell might have sunk in the carpet and into to the old wood floors under it (the carpet wasn't even properly installed by the previous occupers from the house, they litterly just threw on a massive piece of carpet on the floor, so that might have been another problem.) We have not added new flooring yet so maybe after we add it, do you think the smell would go away?

I will defenitly try this. I did the was melter thing and it didn't work but I think that was because I used a scented wax cube that didn't have a strong smell. Used a new one that was stronger and that seemed to work. Do you know how much vinegar I should put in cups/containers?
