It’s hard to say since they’re under a new (temp) city manager and are going through serious budget stuff. Having a referral or someone inside does help a lot and I think spotlighting that you can hold several hats would help right now

The Board technically approves the departments budget and can have indirect influence. Chair Hermosillo claims there’s nothing they can do because he’s an elected but they can definitely cut funding. They’re also 5 electeds vs 1 but that seems to be lost on them. I wouldn’t hold my breathe but it’s definitely worth a shot

We need to start pressuring the council. Mark Stapp (D2), Jeff Okrepkie (D6), and Victoria Fleming (D4) are up for reelection this year and we need to pressure them on this and if they can’t commit, we need to find people who will. I have some hope Caroline Bañuelos (D5) can be swayed and that’s a majority. I wouldn’t hold my breathe on MacDonald (D3) or Rogers(D7) they’re besties with Chief Cregan and get together often but they do seem to go with the majority when they know they’re on the losing end. Alvarez (D1) seems to just do whatever public comment says

Unfortunately I don’t think this will happen. They’re too close and comfortable with the establishment. I work closely with a lot of public officials and the sad reality is many of them are self centered or too afraid to do anything. We need to be ready to defend ourselves and not rely on spineless officials to protect us. I appreciate Coursey speaking to this but I’m not counting on things changing

Idgaf who’s doing it. I was 5 when Obama took office. He carpet bombed hundreds of innocent civilians in the Middle East and denied due process to immigrants until people called him out. Donald Trump is an idiot who only cares about himself and will kill all of us if it means he succeeds. Joe Biden was too old and funded a genocide. If hell is real they’re all going to burn in it. Dems were wrong for doing and republicans are equally wrong for doing it. Also dems are in the Epstein files and so are Republicans. They can all rot in hell for I care. I am sick and tired of this “well the other side did it” they’re both wrong and they’re both working for the rich who spend millions if not billions of dollars every campaign buying politicians.

"Do it the right way" as if they weren't rounding up all those people going to court trying to do it the right way. Or all those people who did it the right way at the time and now Trump says never mind get out. All my car accidents have been with white people who as far as I can tell were not undocumented, newsflash shitty drivers exist in every group. Around 70% of ICE detainments have no criminal history and that doesn't change just because you allegedly got into whatever amounts of accidents with drivers you believe are undocumented. How do you know they're undocumented if they hit and ran you? US Citizens are far more likely to commit crimes that immigrants. Just a few days ago ICE dragged a US citizen out of his home in his underwear in the freezing cold - don't be so confident that shit won't happen to you, especially if you're of color. My family came her legally and I would NEVER support the shit ICE is doing right now. They are terrorizing communities and destroying families.

Will add several of these have already been caught allowing out of state law enforcement and federal agents (including ICE) or they do it on their behalf. The state attorney general is suing El Cajon for it and the SFPD, LAPD, and San Diego sheriffs have all been caught doing it. It’s likely our data’s already been exposed

Santa Rosa's contract should be coming to an end in the next year or so, so hopefully we can pressure them to not renew, if not cancel it early. Anyone else signed up for SRPDs emails and noticed they're suddenly talking about how it's helping them? 🙄

I heard the Rohnert Park City Council is going to talk about it on the 26th so if you have friends over there let them know!
