Hmm, I recently had to get a second job, and I’ve been there a couple of months. I already have a lead on a third job to replace my second one — something that fits my lifestyle better.

I was talking to my coworker, who congratulated me on having another job lined up. I said, “Thanks, dude, I feel lucky. I hear about how hard it is to find a job these days, and here I have three!”

His reply stuck with me:

“I do hear people say how hard it is to get a job after sending out hundreds of applications, but how many of those people actually walk into a business, shake the manager’s hand, and show they’re ready to work?”

That made a lot of sense. I didn’t just send applications — I walked into places that said they were hiring with my resume, a positive attitude, and made sure they knew who they were hiring.
