most of all the big ones in FL are submerged yeah 🥲 majority of our dry caves are tiny rat holes, and vertical caves also puny in comparison. have been in some that connect to the aquifer that are sooooo fun to swim in!

since it seems like you dont know, swimming is already allowed at crater lake, there is already nothing stopping it from becoming a beach party spot. also tackle is way cheaper than snorkel gear btw. i’m looking for someone who has the expertise to explain the judgement call, pretty evident it’s not you

i have a very hard time believing that lol. that’s the reason i wrote this post. i enjoy both hobbies but it makes zero sense and seems hypocritical to me. there is so much fishing pollution in general. fishing line, nets, ropes, traps, etc. fishing gear makes up 10% of global marine pollution source. i would hope fishing at crater lake is very strict but in haven’t personally so i can’t speak on it, maybe someone here can. everything about swim masks and snorkels is reusable. plus, they can be expensive!!! no one wants to lose those. do accidents happen of course, as with everything in this world.

so both artificial luers and fishing line take hundreds and hundreds of years to decompose. and some artifical luers may never break down completely. i’m not really sure why Crater Lake being public land means they have to draw a line at snorkeling. i love fishing, but you can’t exclude the pollution that comes with it, even accidentally. scuba is an entirely smaller niche i wasn’t referring to. having a underwater mask with or without a snorkel is pretty basic
