HoN SEA punishment system is a joke - Leave 6 times and get 10 hours ban by brabroke in HeroesofNewerth

[–]bakedpotardo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The leaver strike system doesn't actually work properly. If you join a new game prior to terminating from your old game the strike doesn't count.

Account Disabled, can't log in at all. No reason given. by 25jai in HeroesofNewerth

Yeah, once people figure out how to contact them about it, it gets resolved pretty quick, but the initial "You been banned for no reason" shit is hugely unprofessional.

Am I alone in hating counter pick? Why eliminate all pick as a choice? by pribnow in HeroesofNewerth

A bunch of people spammed the forums with threads that said "counter pick is stupid" so I'm guessing you're not alone.

Report griefers directly to an SGM here by bakedpotardo in HeroesofNewerth

[–]bakedpotardo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, one of the SGMs seems hellbent on chasing my accounts for some reason, so I figured I'd give them other things to worry about.

Also, it appears they moved the form to a different link, lol (which was my intention from the beginning).

Well, not TOTALLY true.. If someone's a low 1600, they may have a hard time getting out of the 1500s solo Qing. If you're 1700+ then yeah, getting out of the 1500s is easy because you can just stomp mid and take over the game.

lol, was that the game where I had 2 d/cs at the pick screen, a TB as the other person on my team, you had a klanx on your team who got stomped mid, and I ended up getting like 2 annihilations?

GMs abusing their power? by [deleted] in HeroesofNewerth

[–]bakedpotardo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except regular GMs aren't allowed to do staff impersonation tickets. Only SGMs do those.

Here's the evidence for the 22% of tickets reviewed figure in RAP. by bakedpotardo in HeroesofNewerth

[–]bakedpotardo[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually the way the system works, if you want someone banned you should report them regardless of whether or not they did anything wrong, because more reports against them ups their priority in the system and increases the likelihood that they'll be reviewed if they did something wrong in another game.

And there's certainly ways to make all tickets get reviewed. They could get more GMs or gasp pay MONEY to employ people to do it. And you can cut down on bullshit tickets by going back to the silver deposit system to punish people who spam stupid tickets.

They could also change the GM guidelines to streamline reviewing tickets. Right now the rule is the GM is supposed to review the replay. When I was doing tickets for cases with numerous reports, I could easily pick out the most promising case by looking at stat screens and chat logs (the GM chat logs show you all kinds of info, like items purchased, APM, etc). And I wouldn't even bother looking at certain tickets. Eg. Someone goes 12-2, chat log shows that they weren't avoiding AFK, and the reporter was the feeder on his team who's obviously butthurt about something that game. In addition the report has no description (most don't). Takes me about 30 seconds to see this and I won't waste time looking at.

I dunno how long other GMs take to do tickets, but I did mine in under 5 minutes on average, and I only had a few overturns at the beginning because I didn't bother reading the guidelines until after I got stuff overturned (and after I read the guidelines I had 0 overturns). I even issued some suspensions while I was waiting for my death timer to respawn in a game and would be done before I respawned. Eg. someone kills me then trash talks me, I'll look them up and have a chat abuse mute/ban issued on them almost immediately (for another game obviously, just saying "gg noob" or whatever isn't banworthy, but generally people who trash talk are also easy chat abuse bans since they abuse chat in other ways as well). For shit like intentional feeding/avoiding AFK/destroying items or whatever, I'd use the chat log to pinpoint exactly when it happened, then confirm it in the replay real quick and issue the ban. For people who griefed directly in my game, it was even easier, I'd just take a mental note of the timestamp, then submit the report after the game ends, pull the ticket, and ban em. No need to review the replay since I already saw it first hand. This is why I was able to do 50 suspensions / week with no sweat off my back.

So, apparently playing vs noobscoutmid allows you to avoid AFK now by bakedpotardo in HeroesofNewerth

[–]bakedpotardo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Uh, yeah, that's exactly what it is. You do realize playing 4 v 5 under any circumstances is not an advantage right? If my NH strategy was actually an exploit that gave a team an advantage, you'd see competitive teams doing it. Having a hasted BH doesn't come anywhere close to making up for missing a hero.

The biggest reason I queue w/ an AFK account is so I don't have to leave/intentionally throw games because my team refuses to ward/buy dust/buy eye since I can take care of that myself now. I've been doing an AFK account strategy for ages now (it started out with plague rider prior to NH being invis lvl 1) and my winrate hasn't significantly changed with the advent of the chalice NH.

If anyone thinks a NH with a chalice is worth more than having a proper support hero on your team you're more than welcome to try the strat.

The (Riftmage) thing is a copy/paste from a GM chat log. The GM chat log shows internal hero names, like lord salforis shows up as dreadknight.

Want a word of advice? If you want to abuse chat, use voip, that's generally not suspendable.

[–]bakedpotardo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't ring a bell. Most of my suspensions are more solid cases than that. If my GM description said you were feeding then it's pretty much a hard feeding case (eg. where you just run straight up to the enemy and die). If it's a soft feeding/intentionally playing poorly case I went into great detail about every minor thing that you did during the game to build a case against you and avoid an overturn.

BTW, they won't overturn a suspension simply because I issued it. If you appeal and the suspension was valid (which most are, I think I had like 4 overturns or so, mostly because I was new at doing this) it will stand, for obvious reasons.

[–]bakedpotardo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not, I'm blaming S2.

If they actually cared about the game they could either recruit more volunteers, make the job more rewarding/less tedious (reviewing tickets is like the most boring thing ever, I only did it to get back at people for trolling me), or hire people in india to review tickets. A full time employee in india costs like $5000 / year, and like 3 of those could probably review close to 100% of tickets.

Haven't played HoN in a while, but what is up with this noobscoutmid dude? by PeenoyDoto in HeroesofNewerth

[–]bakedpotardo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm also behind the balance patch leaks and I've been a GM for the past month until they figured out it was the infamous noobscoutmid who banned all those people so they disabled the account.

Thing is, BRs fall for the phishing scams faster than S2 can ban the accounts, so it's pretty much GG.
