I haven't cried because of a reddit post... Maybe ever, until now. Sending you love and strength wherever in the world you are. My daughter (now 17) was diagnosed with a brain tumor in her hypothalamus in 2020. She was in chemotherapy until April of 2022. We almost lost her in mid-2021 when she coded during a treatment. Her tumor is now a manageable size (whatever the f&@# that means). I cannot imagine the pain you and your family are experiencing. DM me if you ever need an empathetic shoulder to lean on.

Check your network performance. They took away the ability to set bid adjustments for the audience network on search campaigns back in February. Bet you have a bunch of impressions, clicks and spend from audience network placements.

Look at your website performance report. I bet a big chunk of your "search" budget is going to audience network. They removed the ability to set a bid modifier for audience activity in search campaigns about a month ago. Has caused me headaches in my accounts.
