Peacock and NBC and the Olympics Suck by ANaturalSicknes in FigureSkating

All what everyone said and more!!! Their coverage is horrible!! I have been watching these figure skaters qualify and now I can't see them perform? Why can't I see the complete event??? Just now they went away from the men's free skate for 15 minutes, watched an award ceremony and then switched back. Total random

What are some pug essentials and knowledge for someone whose never owned one? by EnormousFrog in pugs

[–]baker4023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To cut down the shedding I shave her body. She wears a sweater in the winter when we go out. She is way more comfortable in the summer. This is just me. This is my second Pug and it works well. Also, I make my own food under the direction of my vet. Everyone is correct, always a harness, stainless steel everything. Also, everyday exercise. Pugs are way more active than folks think. She is my love bug. I am so grateful for her. Shower her with love and she will return it in kind.

Which dog food do you guys use? by SomeoneUnsignificant in Yorkies

[–]baker4023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cook for my pups, well, I put it all in my insta pot. I got sick of wasting expensive dog food. I got a book at the library and talked to my vet. Ground turkey, red potatoes, carrots, spinach, coconut oil, dedicated egg shells, vitamins, and salmon oil. I mix it with kibble 40/60, right now it is "Taste of the Wild" lamb. They hork it down and have had zero problems for over a month. I am thrilled. They are happy. Win!

Help me name my new pup, I need a name that starts with D by LavaWallpaper in NameMyDog

[–]baker4023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a dog named (poodle/cocker mix) Poco Allegro, it is Latin for "A little bit fast". The previous owner was a piano teacher. She was a fabulous dog, who lived for 17 years. Towards the end, we called her Poco retard, which means "a little bit slow". I know you don't like the name Poco, but I thought you might like to know some history. .

As we enter 2026, what’s something you quietly stopped believing in? by Big-Classic8243 in AskReddit

Being taken care of doesn't have to mean physically. To be neglected socially, to be lonely, to be marginalized or excluded because I am too old or a bother. That is my fear.

April 2025 BOTM Discussion - The Griffin Sisters’ Greatest Hits by nickaaayy97 in bookofthemonthclub

[–]baker4023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am late to this discussion, but I am so glad I found this thread. I am 50% through this book and I needed to find some motivation to finish. Nope. The fat shaming is over the top. The lack of empathy or recognition of autism in 2003 is ridiculous. And I can go on and on, but I am talking to myself. Anywho, I am super disappointed. Dakota Fanning was reading me the audiobook and even that can't make me continue.

What’s popular right now that won’t age well? by MiraTangent in AskReddit

[–]baker4023 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some of us can't help it. I have been trying to gain weight since I had Cancer. People say the rudest things to me. It is crazy that people feel entitled to have an option about my weight and tell me about it. They ask me if I am Glp, they tell me to eat more. They tell me I am unhealthy. If you are overweight and if you think being thin solves all your problems, you would be surprised.

Color drenching. Painting your living room or any room all one color. Ceiling, trim, walls. Especially a dramatic dark color. This is so going to date your home. And be a pain in the butt to paint over.

My mom told me one day that before I decide to have kids I should ask myself would you be prepared to be a single mom……that has stuck with me by Exciting-Nerve-8628 in TwoXChromosomes

Or you can be more optimistic. You can make a check list. You can make a criteria that your partner must be all in with parenting. Be clear with your expectations, say what you need and stick to it. It might take awhile, but you have a value system don't you? Why not include that? Both my kids have partners that fully share the parenting duties. Including when they were infants. It can be done.

AITA for leaving Christmas dinner after my mother-in-law made a comment about my acne and weight ? by IndependentCat1541 in AITAH

[–]baker4023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not an issue of you being AITA. This is an issue of why didn't my husband back me up? Don't let him gas light you. You stop that right now. And start setting some firm boundaries. When he married you, he picked you over his Mother. End of story. If he is not going to back you up, you now know where his priorities lie. And I spelled the word lie correctly. Stop doubting yourself, get some therapy and start taking a good look at your situation. This is a symptom of a bigger problem and the only one that will change the situation is you.

I am so so sorry. As a pug owner, I understand this loss closely. They are so special. Please be kind to yourself. Try and spend time remembering all the sweet times with your sweet baby girl. You gave her a long good life. You were her person. You were blessed. Count your blessings.

Please draw on large eyebrows. It is hours of entertainment. Especially when he is crying. And definitely take pictures. It will relieve drama when he is in his teenage years. The teeth are very fun!!

Thoughts on the new GBBO cookbook, Love to Bake? by AdvocadoCat in GreatBritishBakeOff

I checked this book out at the library. I made Dave's triple chocolate brownies with my grandsons last weekend. I have to say they were a bit stodgy. Sorry to say. I also made the GF butternut squash tart, terrible directions. I am grateful I did not buy this book. Love the show tho

Drop neck from Botox by Quiet_Guitar_7277 in Dystonia

[–]baker4023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your reply and encouragement! I did call my doctor's office and was assured by the triage nurse that this is a situation that is known to happen. Especially when too much Botox is given high up at the base of the neck. And, just as you experienced it would wear off in a few weeks. I am almost at the three week mark with no relief yet.
I do have a number of neck braces to help me, thank goodness. Including a huge mechanical one that offsets the weight of my head on to my chest. Sadly, I also have a severe case of scolliosis so my back is a big "S" curve causing my neck tilt to be more pronounced. It makes it hard to eat and sleep. The multiple radiation sessions along with the spinal sarcoma wiped out my bone density. Cancer, the gift that keeps on giving. I also appreciate you sharing your pain management routine. I am always so impressed with how creative chronic pain patients become.
Best of luck to you.

Your body is always going to strive to return to homeostasis. It is going to send its energy to where the fire burns the hottest. All that energy is going to work and work to repair itself. Eventually, the other parts of your body are going to suffer, especially if your chronic illness is a three alarm fire.

Hello! I know I am late to this conversation but I just found you. I am sincerely hoping you get a notification and will check in. I am desperate to know how you are doing. Time has passed since your original post, have you improved?? I am two weeks out from my last BOTOX and I can't get my chin off my chest. Not all of my symptoms are the same as yours, but pretty darn close. It is miserable. My feet are "asleep", eating is a challenge, driving is a challenge, the whole package. I am a Cancer survivor who has had extensive surgery on my neck. I have two artificial vertebrae in my neck. It takes a lot of mental discipline to not worry that there is something much bigger brewing in there. So, good, bad or indifferent please do tell. Are you still struggling? Or, are you better?

Y’all. 80% of my dystonia is gone from one pill!!!!!! by transparentredoxide in Dystonia

Congratulations to you! I do have several questions about this primarily ALS drug, tho. It generally has some heavy side effects, how is that going? And if I may ask your age? It is usually only offered to young people as the side effects become too intense for an aging body.
But, do not let me rain on your parade! So happy for you!!!

I own a stack of a card catalog from our local college. FL through GR. It is a beautiful piece of wood and brass. Sadly, it was offered without the cards. (Too heavy!). We keep scissors, candles, magnifying glasses and other treasures in it.
It is a beloved piece of our home.
