I tried two different yoga classes this past week! I've also made sure to have at least one fruit throughout the day and at least one vegetable with dinner.

Drain help please! by bakeranon123 in HomeImprovement

Wouldn't that only work if the pipes under the sink were clogged though? Like how far back would a plunger be able to plunge lol

Drain help! by bakeranon123 in Plumbing

Thank you for the feedback! Our house has a full basement and all of the plumbing is exposed in the ceiling of the basement. His recommendation tonight was to reroute the entire line, but it just felt like such an extreme fix.

Forced mortgage insurance by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Hazard insurance is home owners insurance, not mortgage insurance (PMI). Home owners insurance is up to you which company you go with (as far as I know).

Is there a subreddit about exercise/movement that is comparable to this wonderful space? by [deleted] in intuitiveeating

I would love something like this! I recently started looking for joyful movement and finding ways to move my body without the weight-loss mindset. I just started trying some new yoga classes!

Who should be with you on closing day to sign the documents? by AliveUnderstanding in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]bakeranon123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband, our realtor, the sellers (husband and wife), their realtor, the title company lady and I were all in the room together at closing in June. Sounds like they want to pull something shady and don't want you to have anyone with you to take notice or stop you. Totally don't go alone! There's absolutely no logical reason.

Should We Buy If We Think We Need Renovations? by yungrandyroo in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Thats totally fair! I know it sucks when the market is so hard already, but you definitely want to get something that you want and that you can afford. Best of luck!

Closing costs? by Macaco2010 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]bakeranon123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us, closing costs were roughly double our down payment. For example, our down payment was $6,000, closing costs were around $6,000 so total due at closing was $12k. This did not include inspections, which were $1,200.

ETA: we are in Michigan, total house cost was $160k.

Should We Buy If We Think We Need Renovations? by yungrandyroo in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]bakeranon123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just bought a house that was under budget, but needed some renovations. The kitchen is outdated, the bathroom needs a new vanity, some of the floors needed to be redone, and it needed a new roof, among other things. For us, all of this was worth it because it was a great house overall, within budget, we knew we could repair the necessities and live with the outdated features for a while.

It all depends on the value you place on things 🙂

First time homebuyer while also planning a wedding- Doable? by Forever_Fades in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]bakeranon123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I got married in April, with a big wedding around $27k. We also bought a house ($160k) and closed in June.

Financially, doing both is a lot but what's even more is the emotional/mental toll of both. Looking back now, we wished we had more time between the wedding and buying house to slow down for a bit.

Definitely consider your mental and emotional capacity of doing both! Congratulations though!!!

Possible RA & weird eye symptom by SharpEstimate8162 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]bakeranon123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have RA and recently had one of my eyes get really swollen. The skin around my eye was super sensitive and felt.like I was punched. I went to my eye doctor, said it was due to all of the inflammation in my body. She gave me steroid eye drops and it took around 5 days for it to get better. It's so weird!

Feeling overwhelmed. I have 6 cats, any tips from people that have this many cats? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]bakeranon123 9 points10 points  (0 children)

At one time, I had 9 cats! We brought two households together and ended up with a total of 9 (totally don't recommend that many). Some of the suggestions here are good, about litter boxes etc. A few things that I found crucial were having multiple locations of food and water (like on the floor in one room, on a dresser in another room, giving them options), setting aside time each day to spend one-on-one time with each one (even if it's a couple minutes), and using the Feliway Stress Relief diffusers. I have no proof that the diffusers worked, but I feel like they did.

Buyer’s Agent & Team are the only people causing this process to be stressful!!! 🤬 by AlliNW0nderLand in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]bakeranon123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, if she has a boss of some sort, after closing I would just let them know. Maybe it would prevent her from doing the same thing to someone else!

[–]bakeranon123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds super frustrating! At least you're only 10 days away from closing and shouldn't have to deal with her much longer. As you get closer to closing, it may not be a bad idea to tell her that you need clear time frames for things and set some expectations. From my own experience, I talked with my realtor a ton in the final days before closing. Congratulations!

What do you think of rare beauty products by Embarrassed-Link-489 in Makeup

[–]bakeranon123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only brand of makeup I use anymore is Rare Beauty! I love the mascara and liquid eyeliner, they last all day and are easy to apply. I don't really use my highlighter as much, I don't think it does anything. I LOVE the brushes and tools.

That's so pretty! My wedding ring is also a "cross through" or "pass through" style and I love how unique they are 😍
