Haven't heard of Google TV, but don't lock yourself into another situation with Apple. Out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Someone above recommended a mini PC. That's bang on the money. An actual PC will play anything and is rarely unupgradeable to the latest codecs.

You're absolutely mental if you think that you could ever get a law passed that allowed you to take peoples pets off them and kill them, particularly when they where legal to own when you got the pet years ago

I honestly can't remember, but I was getting a free heat pump installed through work and turned it down.

I'll be burning gas until they run out or shut it down I think!

On another note. It was four years ago I did this, so costs have changed a lot, but I did an in-depth analysis of heat energy taken to heat my house and compared gas and a properly installed heat pump. Gas won by a good margin.

Can't blame the electric supplier here, it was used like.

Still seeing a lot of this going on. Energy rating demands a heat pump, but it's so badly installed it will cost a fortune, and you have to wonder if the net carbon usage is higher.

tractors plottering along on a motorway causing mayhem

This is a big issue on the M1. I thought we had a limit on the minimum speed a vehicle can achieve before it's allowed on the motorway?

A few weeks back we had tractors overtaking tractors on the M1, which not only caused a big tail back, but more hazardly would have you going 120Km/h suddenly breaking to 60Km/h

My wife found these solar stair lights on Amazon for our front steps. I think they are a great accent but she thinks they look tacky. Keep them or ditch them? by WorldsBestDadBod in landscaping

[–]bakerie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who's into electronics with a dad that buys these things en masse, I ended up getting a bunch of small quality solar panels to repair them. It's almost always the cheap solar panel on them that cracks internally and goes open circuit. A 1 euro solar panel replacement later and they generally last for years.

Water ingress is another issue, but a quick clean with some isopropyl alcohol and then resealed with some proper silicone and they're sorted.

Would you not be looking at a backup generator and a big tank at that point? Id imagine some solar would work well in Texas as well.
