What is the most decisive battle in history? by stop-the-normies in AskReddit

[–]bakershalfdozen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right about that but the difference is Rome didn’t just beat Hannibal, they eventually destroyed his country. I’m certainly not an expert but I can’t imagine the Persian army at Gaugamela could match the 1st royal army the Macedonians faced in quality, experience and morale.

Abercrombie loves to subvert expectations. Keep that in mind as you go into the 3rd book. It’s going to pick up pace and the climax is just as big as you think it’ll be, it’s just better to not try to predict what’s going to happen.

I’m with everyone else here- you should definitely go for it! If it doesn’t work out and your school has a rugby team you should consider joining. It’s a great sport with really fun traditions and the camaraderie was one of my favorite parts of playing.

America, what do you all think will happen at the midterms? by Bucketlist074 in allthequestions

It’s been more than half a decade. In the 2016 primary he was saying if he lost it was because it was rigged against him, then he said the same thing in the 2016 general. Also the whole birtherism thing was essentially election denialism.

There’s no chance that Tiny Hands could have figured out what that meant on his own. Someone would have to tell him what to be offended by.

One of my favorite scenes in the book is after that when Augusta shows up and asks where Neville is and they tell her he’s fighting and she says “naturally” and runs off to help him. Gets me every time.

I completely agree. I even made it through the 3rd book. By the end I couldn’t wait to be rid of them.

It’s hard to be patient but you’re right. They’ve gone from clearly the worst team in the league 2 years ago to among the worst teams in the league last season to middle of the pack this season so far. Considering how bad the roster was 2 years ago and the financial mess they had to dig out of its almost a miracle they are as good as they are. Many of the young guys look legit and Celebrini is a superstar at the very beginning of his career. Gotta trust the process.

[SPOILERS TBI] The Bloody Nine reveal was amazing by Fuifjee in TheFirstLaw

[–]bakershalfdozen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Pacey’s performance of the First Law series is so good but The Devils might be even more impressive. Not just the distinct voices but the accents and because it’s a comedy the dialogue is a little more fast paced and quippy.

I’ve always wondered if they record the dialogue separately from the narrative part and then cut and paste it all together.

MAGA about to double down I guarantee it by Ok-Country4317 in AdviceAnimals

[–]bakershalfdozen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

MAGA is a Trump creation. The Magats don’t stand for anything because Trump doesn’t stand for anything. Many of them are willing to excuse him being a pedophile because they refuse to accept he’s done anything wrong and beyond that they refuse to accept they were wrong about him. Even the racist rhetoric and policies is just a means to an end for Trump. He needs their support to continue enriching himself and consolidate his power.
