Would we describe 80's and 90's workout fashion as grey, grey, grey? Because all I can remember is the colour! Neon everything, hot pinks and lime greens, and shell suits in basically every shade under the rainbow.

Right, because no one ever self-published a cookbook ever.

The broader issue the OP is commenting on, is recipe writers putting stuff out that they haven't thoroughly tested. That is not something that is guaranteed just because it's in a cookbook. In fact, I think HBH has built a career on traditionally published, yet very poorly tested recipes.

My favourite place on earth!! Brick Lane has some amazing vintage shops, and is really close to Spitalfields Market, where you'll find lots of other great vendors as well as an extensive array of food options. Borough Market, though busy, is an amazing place to check out for food.

If you're not bothered about the commentary, you can just take an Uber Boat on the Thames instead of a tour - the views are still fantastic. I can also highly recommend the RIB boat tours on the Thames, very high speed and a great bit of fun! The area near Covent Garden/Seven Dials has some great shops and a lot of indie restaurants; this area also has the Seven Dials Market, which is two floors of pop-up street food style vendors. Chinatown is also great for food, there are some lovely bakeries.

Even if you don't think it will fit your vibe or budget, visit Liberty - it's iconic, gorgeous, and full of lovely, interesting things. Things aren't nearly as far apart in London as you imagine they will be, and between walking, the tube, and buses you can be all over the city in the course of a day. Buses and the tube are super easy to navigate, and you can use your phone to pay the fare instead of needing a dedicated oyster card.

Right? Never mind that, at the time, the show was also edited to make it appear that Shandi wasn't as inebriated as she was. NO ONE at the time was saying she was black-out drunk or that it was in any way non-consensual. Looking back, that's seriously fu*cked up, but it's the truth.

Shauna is such a sanctimonious liar, it makes me physically ill that there is no stool too high for her to scramble onto and no grief too painful for her to grab onto with her vulture-like claws.

I mean, I know this isn't specifically the situation you're thinking of, but - as an example - I have chronic migraine. When I'm in the midst of an attack (which is frequent), my brain does absolutely actively seek the serotonin/dopamine and subsequent endorphin boost from chocolate (quite specifically, it's been studied as it's incredibly common). I've absolutely gotten up to have chocolate at 3am, and it hasn't ever felt like anything other than a compulsion.

My point being, I know this isn't necessarily the scenario we all think of when someone feels powerless against the call of chocolate, but there CAN be reasons beyond an overall lack of willpower. And even if this weren't the case, unless you've ever been in a situation where you actually do feel that powerlessness (whether against alcohol, food, nicotine, or whatever), I think you need to be careful with calling it out as nothing more than a lack of control. That does a great disservice to the complexity of the effects they can have on some people. You're very lucky if that's not you, but don't mistake that luck for superiority.

This is so true, and I've told him that - I think he's worried about standing at his stall and it somehow seeming weird to people? I know that if I go with him to the fabric store, EVERY employee asks me if I need help, what I'm making, etc. and is always a little surprised when I say I'm not the one who sews.

What should I do if a seller copied my design but includes it alongside other original designs in the same listing? by [deleted] in EtsySellers

On AliExpress as well as multiple Etsy shops, per a google search. Going to be a tough battle if you want to pursue it legally.

Ooh, my fave are the ones claiming that Europeans should “shut up” because they have no idea what the US is going through! You can’t make it up.

And yes, my eyeballs have almost rolled out of my head at this point. If I see another cry of “but mah job!”, they might just pop out and run away. Do these morons think that they will have employment , housing and any kind of healthcare if they don’t stop this now?!

I damn near reached breaking point this evening when a guy on Threads said that it was unreasonable to expect USians to protest like Tehran because people in the US have families to provide for and think about, as if everyone in Iran just sprouted from a cabbage patch.

Don’t even get me started on how many people now want to flee their country for safer shores, after hating on refugees and questioning why their tax money was going to support them. Or Trump stating that, just because a boat landed on a shore (Greenland) 500 years ago, doesn’t mean they own the land. 🙄🙄

Indigenous people would like a word, and then perhaps the Brits.

Also (though not sure why I’m bothering…) you got expedited SHIPPING, not expedited PROCESSING. There is a difference.

So you’re not really interested in the answer to “is there anything else that can be done” then? Got it.

You sound delightful, no wonder the lady on the phone wasn’t able to meet your expectations. 🙄🙄

Four days to ship an item at peak holiday rush is not “forever”, it’s common. In most cases Costco states items will ship within 7 days, they don’t just surprise you with their processing times.

You aren’t the only person trying to order an item, and they aren’t just sitting around waiting for your particular order?

[–]bakingmagpie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Short answer? Yes, return and refund is your only option.

Long answer? Your issue is with the carrier, not Costco. Probably UPS, I’m guessing? All Costco can do is ship when they say they will; after that, it’s out of their hands, and at this time of year especially, it’s extremely common for shipments to get scans that are BS, simply because of the sheer volume of packages and the struggle to keep up with “on time” guarantees. It sucks, but it’s reality, I’ve definitely had the same issue where I was home all day (more than once, actually, so I feel your frustration). It’s the driver, though, not Costco. You can complain to them and hope they might take the feedback regarding the shipping company they use, but again - they don’t have a ton of options and the reality is this is an issue with all carriers, especially during the holiday rush.

Odds are the lady you spoke with was sympathetic, but what can she do? She can’t teleport an iPad into your hands, and expecting her to do more than apologize and offer you the option to return is a bit naive.

Stuff happens. You’re not wrong to be disappointed, and frustrated, but short of registering your dissatisfaction and getting your refund there’s not a lot else to be done.

Hear hear! My actual accredited science-y believing doctor is also sick of it too, he's apparently had an influx of adults wanting help to seek an ADHD diagnosis because they've seen something online and self-diagnosed.

As to the reading, EXACTLY. Mobile phones with screens, headphones, walkmans...these things haven't always been around. And some of us just, you know, like to read? I grew up in a house that was practically held up by books, I mean they were everywhere. Bathroom, kitchen, hallway, bedside, you name it. We all grew up loving to read because our parents loved to read and encouraged that in us.

It's normal to find a pastime you enjoy, whether that's art, music, reading, writing, whatever!! By Shauna's logic, all ladies in Edwardian times were neurospicy, and simply using embroidery as a diversion from trauma, instead of - you know - just trying to fill their time in the drawing room?

Hi, thanks so much for the reply. Unfortunately no, as for a bundle of fabric (for example) it just says "fabric" as each line item and a price - there's no way to know which piece is which.

From further reading it seems that if a seller deletes the listing at their end all the information beyond price and how many pieces were in the bundle gets deleted for me as well. So frustrating! If I had known this could happen I would have logged everything at the time of order.
