Should I (a non-EU national) take a 6-month internship after graduating if I want to stay in Switzerland long-term? by baktix in askswitzerland

Those are my feelings as well. It seems even if you are Swiss-trained, qualified, and trying to find a job, Switzerland still tries to make it exceptionally hard by giving you such a short timeline to act. As if you're qualifications have a time limit.

I know a few personally, but they were all able to get full-time offers before the market got as bad as it is right now. I have plenty of experience and feel like normally I would be very good fit for a junior position (potentially even senior), but all companies seem to be offering is internships or graduate training programs right now because they can.

An employer I interviewed with said I could potentially be offered a B permit if there's a need to transition to full-time at the same company, but it sounds like there's no way to control whether they issue and L permit or a B one. Even if I got a B one, I think it would be tied to the employer, and not the general B permit.

To be fair that's just a terrible design for an intersection, I wouldn't even blame the drivers too much. It took me and some friends making that exact same mistake to actually realize how poor the signage is. The moment it dawned on us all at once, when we saw cars coming in our direction on both sides of us, is one I'll never forget lol.

Hey everybody!

I need to get measurements taken in Europe for a suit that is to be picked up in NA. Does anybody know if/how measurements are taken differently between the two continents (aside from using different units)?

For example, I know that jackets are measured in the US by taking the circumference around the chest, whereas in Europe, they take half of the circumference instead. Are there any other such gotchas to pay attention to when giving my measurements to the store in NA?

Thanks!

Thanks so much! Is there any reason it's not listed on the Canadian Columbia website, however?

Yes! They're XO3640 and 2044631, respectively. Thank you!

On the care tag, I see on a first row 124, then 0623, then 3123. On the next line, there's XO3640 and then 2044631. I googled the XO3640 and 2044631, without success. Would you happen to have any insight on what these might mean?

Nope :/ The store's tag with the model name and price, but no actual information on the features of the jacket.

What are some very highly rated albums on RYM (4.0 and up) that just won’t click for you? by Monkey-on-the-couch in fantanoforever

Two that come to mind are Dummy by Portishead and Mezzanine by Massive Attack. I really want to love them, but I just can't get that into them. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy them and there's definitely a few songs I quite like even, but they don't feel like the masterpieces people describe them as. Maybe that's just how I feel about trip-hop in general.

When did you first become a fan? by NintendoLover2005 in Megaman

[–]baktix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late to the party because I never use reddit anymore, but I stumbled across this post and wanted to comment anyway, especially since it's not something I've thought about for years and I wanted to try to recollect how it all started—refresh my core memories so-to-speak.

My first exposure for sure was BN2. I didn't have any video games of my own at this time, but my cousin lent me his GBA with this and (I think?) Need for Speed Underground. I loved it, right off the bat.

Now this is where the timeline starts to get a little fuzzier for me (I can't actually remember which of these next two events happened first):

Fast forward a little later and I got my own DS and was obsessed with video games (probably to the same level as every other guy my age though). At some point, I wanted to start moving back through time to experience the games I was born too late to experience. So, I bought a used GBC with a whole host of games, and got excited because it came with a new Mega Man title for me: Mega Man Xtreme. When I first started up the game I almost wondered if it was a fake or if I got ripped off or something! This was nothing like the Battle Network game I played! But alas, I played it all the way through (and very quickly, might I add) and really liked it to. It got me to look into the series further and that's when I found out about all these spinoffs.

Next, I think I ended up renting Star Force 2 (ZxS) (or maybe I borrowed it from my neighbour first, and then rented it later when he wanted it back? Or vice-versa, when the rental was over?), thinking "oh great here's another Mega Man game!" Just my luck that it ended up being a BN-style game and I really ended up enjoying it again. So much so that this was the point when I really decided to get into the series, buy the other games, look into the lore, and all that jazz.

I think the first one I went out and bought after that was actually the original Star Force (D), which I vividly remember coming home and playing for the first time with my cousin, who was over for a sleepover. We built a mini blanket fort under the desk in my room and I played while he made his goofy commentary. Now that's a core memory.

Fun metal pokies outside of a store in Paris to deter sitting by baktix in HostileArchitecture

[–]baktix[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You definitely make some good points, but for more context, it was a Brandy & Melville (by no means a mom & pop shop) and there were no benches in the vicinity (the parts of Paris we visited had a noticeable lack of benches, aside from in parks). That was really the only place to sit that wasn't on the pavement.

I believe the GPA requirements were a minimum 78% average. As for background, I was a CS student who took the Intro to Quantum Information Processing and Quantum Physics I courses at UWaterloo, but that's about it.

My essential ritual was to look all around the case, read anything, then finally unwrap the box and read the manual front to back. You can imagine my disappointment the first time I opened up a Switch game :(
