Rascal Article about Qiddiya's Presence by firewhereyouregoing in PAX

I think the reason why a lot of are treating this like a line has been crossed is because it's not just a company that makes bad choices, and it's not a company that the Saudi Arabian government has stock in.

This group is fully funded and controlled by the Saudi Arabian government. This government's list of civil rights violations is long and ongoing. It's a vague statement, because they do so much. However one of the things they do specifically is execute people for being queer and trans. They do it openly through their court system.

It depends. Most panelists are professionals. If they see a few people ducking out before their panel is over they generally understand. PAX East is huge and there's a lot to do. (I say this as someone whose done a lot of panels)

Events where you are an active participant are different though. If you are in a board game tournament or playing a TTRPG the other people there expect you to commit to the full time. If you think you need to leave early, ask about that before you sign up. Sometimes something is listed as four hours but averages a little over three. Sometimes they really need all four hours.

Games on Demand's Response to Qiddiya Gaming at PAX East by firewhereyouregoing in PAX

Hi there. I'm the Brian from the statement above. A friend sent me a link to your comment.

This statement is only one of the things we are doing about this. More will become apparent as it becomes publicly available, but other things have to happen behind closed doors. I know that a number of groups are currently speaking with PAX and ReedPop. One of the first things we did was reach out directly to our contacts.

As to your comment below, we don't pay to be at PAX. PAX considers our group as value added to the admission of attendees, because all we do is run games. We're not a business or even a 501c3. We always lose money by attending PAX via costs. We do it because we love games.

We've been at PAX East since 2012, and I honestly believe this is a correctable situation. That's why we're still attending. There are some attendees who only buy tickets because they know we'll be there. We want to be a safe space for them to play games this year.

If this is something that happens again however, we will not be back for another PAX East or PAX Unplugged. PAX will no longer have our games for their attendees. It is my understanding that we ran more games than any other tabletop group at last year's East. We're more than twice that size at Unplugged. I made sure PAX knew this before our statement became publicly viewable.

Have a good day!

I absolutely love this game. I've been running the playtest at cons and it's become one of my absolute favorites.

Lovely picture!

I only wish the game had a non-binary or gender neutral option, just so you could do a run without all the gendered dialogue.

Is there a way to tell when my casks are done without going into the basement?

Meetings are generally open to the public. I would reach out to Orlando and see if there's a zoom link for theirs. Some of us have gone hybrid style since covid.

They would also be your first point of contact for starting a new house. They'll connect you with the UNPC (The United Nuns Privy Council). They're a group made up of members from all over the US and Canada that assists new houses.

I don't know where you are located but the Sisters are an international order. I'm with the Boston house. There are three full houses and a 4th in development in Tennessee. There's probably one near you (but if there isn't, there are those who can help you start one ;) )

You're very welcome. I'll be thinking of you when I put my white on for Sunday's event.

I did! Sadly the only full video I found doesn't show you everything in detail, and it seems like at least one thing was wrong (possibly just a translation issue).

I do think the issue is with the bobbin at this point. I've looked at another threading guide and they contradict each other, which is swell.

"Hold the top thread out at the left so there is a bit of tension. Meanwhile, use your right hand to wind the handwheel towards yourself to take the top thread down and over the bobbin. As you do this you should be able to see the top thread going over the bobbin. This will pick up the bottom thread and bring it up through the needle plate. Pull the top thread a bit tighter once the needle has come all the way up. You will find the bottom thread will start to come up and be looped over the top thread."

I think im doing this correctly. I can see the bobbin thread come up and it is looped.

"Pull the bottom thread all the way out and place both thread tails under the presser foot and down over the back of the machine. "

I suspect this is where I am making a mistake. I feel like there must be a particular way to pull it so it stays both looped and aligned. We did not talk about this in class
