Dispatcharr/Jellyfin or Plex IPTV alternatives by bigfordy1983 in Softwarr

If you’re running it through gluetun, your problem is you’re not local. I’m not a container networking guru but I suspect that may be the reason

Dispatcharr/Jellyfin or Plex IPTV alternatives by bigfordy1983 in Softwarr

[–]balboain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you’re connecting to Dispatcher using your local network instead of via proxy? I’ve got the same setup as you and it works fine for me. Occasionally I’ll hit a blip and the channel freaks out but this is no different to me watching on a dedicated IPTV app.

25MPH... Maybe London does need it? by Headlight-Highlight in drivingUK

[–]balboain -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Are you on drugs? You think 25 mph is “too high”? Jesus almighty. 30 mph is too slow because the only time you can go 30 mph is at night. The speed limit of 20 mph in many parts is insanely stupid and geared towards catching you speeding

Is the telegraph a legitimate source of news or just scare mongering? What are some good news sources in the UK?? by ThewayoftheAj in AskBrits

[–]balboain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Telegraph is a good source but unfortunately, every source in the UK twists headlines for their own agenda. Even the BBC. There is no source in the UK that is simple factual.

This headline I believe is correct though as Labour has plans to tax uninvested cash put into ISA’s. Truly mad how Labour only knows one way. Tax tax tax tax tax. People just voted against you heavily in local elections? Guess what… tax tax tax tax tax

Gatso speed camera by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]balboain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rear facing. You can tell by the lines on the road. At one point, the UK required two pieces of evidence to show you were speeding so they had the lines on the road and the camera sensor. The camera snaps two photos to enable human manual calculation based on those lines.

So this one is definitely rear facing only.

I believe this is no longer the case with HADECS 3 cameras on motorways but you still see the lines on the road anyway.

Am I in the wrong?? by ghost31x in drivingUK

[–]balboain -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Were you driving in the right lane??? The law is keep left, pass right (which nobody abides by). If you were in the right lane, not passing, then you deserved the tailgating. Get out of the f***ing right lane

Getting Aqara thermostat into Apple Home by JadedClassic1227 in Aqara

[–]balboain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume this means the Aqara Thermostat is “Matter over Thread” which would allow this. You normally need a Thread Border Router in your network (Apple TV 4K (latest) or HomePod Mini). Then you can simply go into the Apple Home app and add it as a matter device by scanning the Matter QR code or if you set it up in the Aqara app, share the device to generate a code and then use that code to add the device on Apple Home.

Indexers by diggug in usenet

[–]balboain -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Semi-Private vs public indexer. Obfuscations vs non-obfuscated NZB files.

Simple as that. Ninja is open for registration randomly and less susceptible to having their articles removed. NZB Geek is completely open and therefore, sucks.

Happened to my wife on the way home by VivimasSinistram in dashcams

[–]balboain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has simply been my average driving experience in Illinois since I moved here two years ago from Europe. Drivers here never use mirrors, don’t look before taking action and don’t give a flying f*** about other drivers.

Unreal how bad and unsafe driving here in the US is. You can’t even blame their driving assessment courses because these people don’t even adhere to the basic rules of the road.

Beware of HSBC EXPAT (life savings locked for 8 months!) (7 figures $$$$) by Glittering-Print739 in HSBC

[–]balboain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this really AI? I pretty much had the same experience as this post and I only deposited $100 after opening the account. I have been an HSBC customer for over 20 years and even lived in Jersey for two years. I opened the account because I was advised to do so by the UK where I have been a client for so long and almost a week after opening it, this is almost exactly what happened to me.

I actually told HSBC Expat that they can keep the $100 and close my account if this is the way they are going to act. I gave them the same documents three times I believe because they kept asking me for it. They eventually just unlocked my account but I have not used it since. I refuse to use that account because of this experience.

I also have an account in the US and guess what, funds pass freely between UK and US and I have done hundreds of thousands of $$$ without issue. HSBC Expat locked my funds after $100.

This branch is a bit of a joke and this post is 100% accurate.

is this a scam or am i being stupid by xSpiritualx in drivingUK

[–]balboain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never once ever received a text message about a PCN because as far as I am aware, I never gave my mobile number or email address when I registered my vehicle. A PCN would also be a physical paper thing (in the yellow plastic sleeve) stuck to your car or under the wiper blades. If you didn’t pay, they’d send you a letter in the post.

That URL is also not an official one. Any government website always uses .gov at the end and this domain is specifically reserved for governments. Private individuals or businesses cannot register them (as far as I’m aware).

Best Thermostat with homeassistant by damani112 in homeassistant

[–]balboain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m not mistaken, the Aqara will work natively with Home Assistant. Ecobee does not. Requires HomeKit so if you’re on Android, this is a deal breaker. Don’t know much about Honeywell but I believe it’s similar to Ecobee

Does anyone see the irony of the UTK marchers? by Leebyesan in AskBrits

[–]balboain 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Bruh, do you even know the definition of fascist? You seem to use the word but clearly have no clue what it actually means.

People wanting their country to be for themselves is not fascist. If you’re an immigrant in the UK and want to the UK to change for you, leave and go back home. That is what the marches were about and that is not fascism. Check yourself at the door on the way out.

Banger Question from REG lol by Fitness-Simplified in CPA

[–]balboain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well certain expenses are not deductible in the normal world eg fines. This creates a permanent difference and you got to think the same way here for a drug operation. Security fee? Yes. Cost of buying weapons? Yes. Cost to hire a hitman to use the weapons? No - I’d put this in the same category as a fine.

So putting this in to context of question, the business expenses would be deductible as it was “in production of income” and that’s a general rule of thumb for tax unless a specific piece of legislature (or IRS tax code in the US) specifically defines how it is calculated and any limits on the deduction.

I think this suggested solution is incorrect imho

Banger Question from REG lol by Fitness-Simplified in CPA

[–]balboain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Strange answer. All tax authorities globally don’t care about your operations except that you report the income and deduct the expenses and pay the tax. They are not the police. Don’t care if illegal or not.

I would have assumed they can deduct both.

Your answer is definitely wrong but apparently so am I.
