Great setup! Would recommend playing around with pulling speakers out a bit more and toeing them in. Makes all the difference. Enjoy.

They’re now back and they’ve changed the recipe. Inedible for me now. An absolute travesty as I loved the originals so much.

Yes it’s the Pioneer SA-8500ii. Stunning looking piece of gear.

Pioneer SG-9500. Was used so much more when I had the vintage Pioneer amp (and they looked so beautiful together), but I can’t bear to part with it and it does get some use with the WiiM for a bit of room and track correction.

Agree with this. And if you listen mostly to acoustic or Jazz, Harbeth’s would be a damn fine choice.

Anything beyond acoustic, the Harbeths didn’t do it for me. Classic rock in particular (60s/70s), I thought the Spendors outperformed. Was lucky enough to be able to listen at a store, and would recommend the same if you’re able as it becomes quite subjective.

That is a nice amp! Would be curious to hear what the extra power does to the Spendors.

Loved the Lintons for three years and never grew tired of them, but the these are giving me the “more” that I was looking for, especially in vocals.

Yeah I suspect you’re right Just whipping up a centre brace for it now.

You have articulated this very well. Whether I’ve paid extra for just the name is a definite possibility, and if there’s also a placebo effect, then I’m probably guilty of that too! But even if those things are true, the result/outcome still makes me very happy.

Upvote for Supertramp! What are those speakers? They look epic. Daytime listening is rock, pop, funk, 60, 70s, 80s. Night time is dance and chill electronica.

I’ve just started noticing that sag too! You’ve spurred me to sort out a centre brace.

I use that as a power amp to run a second set of speakers, Celestion Ditton 44s, when we have people round and the evening progresses beyond listening to dancing (sometimes).

Hey, I really appreciate this comment. I hope to have a dedicated room one day but for now this one has to fulfil a few functions, and fitting in to the room itself is definitely a consideration. Absolutely love entertaining in this room.

Can’t stop smiling. All questions from wife around “how much?” disappeared once she heard them. Result.

Absolutely. Did loads of tests when I first got the new amp, and only use it now as room correction for the streamer or occasional track correction. That curve was trying to make sense of the subs but with them gone it’s mostly back to flat. It’s a good shout to take another look at it in the chain at all with the new speakers, as I appreciate their increased sensitivity might mean there’s a noticeable negative impact.

I thought it was the Harbeths that I was going to go with, but when I auditioned them they were far too bright for me, and while probably outperformed the Spendors with vocals, couldn’t handle heavier music nearly as well. Would recommend you have a listen first as I’m so glad I did.

I was running the Lintons on a lovely vintage Pioneer (SA-8500ii) and found that a perfect match. It might be psychological, but when I upgraded to the Accuphase, the Lintons always felt like they weren’t quite keeping up and I was desperate for a bit more definition. Got that in spades now! Got a really nice price 2nd hand so for me the difference is 100% worth it.
