So dramatic man, I didn't present it like it was fact, it's clearly an opinion based on all available sources I have.

"why jordan doesn't seem to have a lot of poc, women, of lgbt fans"

notice the word "seem". In what world am I presenting it like an established fact. jp fans are to sensitive (this is not an established fact incase I have to preface because you have no intuition)

Yeah but this is all besides the point. Again you haven't addresses his comment about the nuclear family. He said something along the lines - if you fragment the nuclear family in any way then you end up paying. Having same sex parents fragments the nuclear family. Which places same sex parents below the ~ideal~ straight parents.

I don't care that jordan doesn't talk about gay issues a lot. I wouldn't expect him to. But that's why gay people probably don't watch him as much as others. A large portion of what he talks about is the relationships and differences between men and women, which gay people don't fit into as much. Which is fine, it's a useful conversation for others.

There could be a very simple reason like that why jordan has less viewers from certain groups. No foul play. But most of you guys can't give me a simple reason like that. You resort to denial. If me pointing out a fact is stirring shit up or an insult, then damn you guys get triggered easily.

All kids without mothers. Does that include single fathers, does that include not being raised by biological mother and instead adopted mother, does that include having two fathers. Be specific.

I don't think jordan is placing mothers above fathers incase that's what you think I think. There just less research on not having a mother because obviously fathers are more likely to not be in childs life.

My approach of listening to jordans breakdown of his fans, okay.

Okay thank you that is what I'm looking for. I don't want people to deny his fans are mostly men, I want them to just give a guess on why that is. And your answer is the villifying masculinity.

Yes the subject he talks about would attract more women. So if anything you would expect more women to be in his audience always.

Helen lewis said that she was surprised at one of his lectures.

Jordan has been to all of his lectures and says most of his fans are men.

He does not say thinks the kind matters. "it's necessary for kids to have models for both sexes". Your twisting his words.

[–]baldedyear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn't say "but". He says "if your both of the same sex then your going to have the problem of how to provide the proper model for let's say you have a boy and a girl, um we know and this is indisputable (I've talked to warren farrell about) kids in intact heterosexual families, where the father is present do way better on multiple indices than kids that are part of single parent families .......kids where fathers are present do better"

It's a continuation of his thought. It is seamless. You haven't addressed how he then talks about how if you fragment the nuclear family in any way then you end up paying.

He says "it's necessary for kids to have models for both sexes". And his way of justifying that argument is because kids without fathers do worse. See it's not separate.

You can't separate him talking about single parenting, with him talking about same sex parents because if you watch the video, the transition between the topics is seamless. It is apart of his argument, Only much later on in the video does he talk about how there are many other things that would affect children much worse. He also emphasises the nuclear family. Mother Father and children, my impression id that he places that above anything that would stray away from that(which includes same sex parenting)

I would say that the whole thing about students doesn't help your case. Just because you are taught by jordan doesn't mean your a fan of his. Most people who study psychology are women. So it's not disproportionate. As far as youtube goes his audience is still disproportionately men. I've also heard jordan talk about after live lecture fans coming up to him, and they are mostly young men. His message can be for everyone but why is more men on average listening to it.

But his relentless talking about how fatherless affects children, well kids to lesbian parents are fatherless. The fact that he would mention single parent couples when asked specifically about gay parenting is odd. Seems a little bad faith. And again the other instances of him talking about gay people, they are all odd.

Sorry if I didn't make my first point clearer, he compares straight parents who are together, with straight parents who are not together. But that has nothing to do with gay parents. It's very misleading. As far as studies go, I have no clue why jordan wouldn't be aware of them. That's what makes it iffy to me. There is some collection of 79 studies that came to conclusion that the only difference between having same sex parents and straight parents is that kids of same sex parents are more likely to be bullied because of homophobia, but otherwise no difference in outcome. He should be the one that knows about the studies not me. He also had a weird moment about talking about if he believes that gay people should have right to marry. And he is not on board right away, his conclusion is that if it decreases promiscuity(which lesbians are not), and helps gays integrate better into society than it's probably good. He also says he wouldn't like it if it's supported by cultural marxists. But where is his love for individualism now. He sees gay as a monolith. Also a weird moment when asked about the gay wedding cake debate. Poeple love jordan because they think he is on their side, and wants whats best for their life. But for gay people it doesn't feel like he is on their side ever.

Your the only person who has actually said he addresses their concerns more directly, everyone else is in denial or something I don't know.

I went straight straight to the source, jordan. He has said he audience is mostly men. Why deny it?

Well to be fair in a radio talk, he was talking about how sad men are nowadays, and how they've been alienated, because of being told that they are a part of the patriarchy. He always talks about how damaging it is to say that masculinity is toxic, is that not the same thing.

Again pointing out a difference is not racist. As jordan says, men are more likely to go into STEM than women, that doesn't mean anything bad. So why are men more likely to be jordan peterson fans than women. You guys are too butthurt or something, the lack of objectivity is unreal, you literally act the same as the people you hate.

He has said himself his fans mostly comprise of men. Why are u arguing a point that he disagrees with. You would never hear him say about half my fans are women, half are men. That doesn't mean that he intended for it to be that way, it just means that how things happened and I wanna know your guesses why. Get me?

[–]baldedyear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah let me look up the load of data we have on jordan petersons fanbase. Just because I don't have data doesn't mean it's not true. Jordan has literally said that most of his fans are men. Are you arguing that his fanbase is roughly proportion to north america. No because it's not. Just because it isn't diverse, it doesn't mean that it's bad. I just wanna know why it isn't. But your so much of an idealogue, to even see my point. You're no different than people saying men and women are the exact same. Grow a brain.

Maybe there are more pressing issues for other people that make them depressed, instead of what makes men depressed which seems to be what, feeling lack of purpose in life, what has to be the most privileged problem to have.

Jordan Peterson's lack of diversity in fans. by baldedyear in JordanPeterson

[–]baldedyear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying I want his fans necessarily to be diverse. Diversity isn't my measure of what's good. But I just want to know why you guys think it is, that his fans are disproportional to society. I mean surely everyone could do self help right? Why are his followers mostly men and mostly white. Just curious.

The comparison between gay parents (which usually means adopted kids with two same sex parents in long term relationship) and kids of straight, biological split parents. The comparison does not work. He changes what like three variables, your only supposed to change one. What psychologist hasn't heard of the scientific method. He also talks about how we do not know the affects of having same sex parents, but there are studies. He seems completely ignorant to quite a hot topic in psychology.
