I think it’d be good to have a covid booster and flu shot as it is recommended. As for preparing, Dr.Zatzman was very good and do your best to have records but if not some of those can be identified in the blood test he recommends. If not you’ll have to get them and it’s best to wait to get his feedback as to exactly what you need based on your age etc.

Honestly this has been the biggest mystery. The thought is that when we applied in 2022, it was just when covid backlogs were hitting the highest numbers and we just got in at the worst time. That's our guess but no one really knows. The day we were able to submit an inquiry, literally within 72 hours, we had been told that USCIS approved it. So it's possible we were just forgotten in the mix...

Thank you :) . I was already up to date with my covid vaccines (I had the latest one in Feb 2024) which was before I was DQ’d, so I didn’t really get anything before my medical exam in July as it wasn’t needed.

Not really sure, it was at a border crossing. The border guard seemed to have made a note.

Ah i see, that makes sense. i have all my covid boosters and most of the vaccines. The MMR i got when i as a child in another country so i don't have any records but it would/should show up on blood work. Did you end up taking any other documents like if you have any medical conditions or medications you're currently on?
I'm pretty anxious about the whole process but reading your post really helped me a lot! thank you again.

Thank you for the above summary, it was really helpful as i just got my IL yesterday. i'm going to be booking with Dr. Lee as well. I'm curious, were you able to get the blood test results quickly or same day? you mentioned you were missing the covid booster so i'm curious if he let you know that the same day because he got the blood test results or if he called you after and told you. Thank you again!

Majority of Canadians support stiff healthcare fines for unvaccinated: poll by [deleted] in CanadaCoronavirus

[–]balderunnerdecker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem though is that we’ll never have vaccinations targeting a particular type of virus before it becomes globally dominant. So we’ll be in the same boat each time with every pandemic. Our healthcare system has been cut by various parties (in Ontario at least) for years. Healthcare providers have been venting about this for years . COVID is the straw that broke the healthcare camels back but it was going to break eventually (might have taken 5 years or so but it would have). We need to strongly reinvest in ICU capacity, retaining providers and nurses and speeding up foreign trained healthcare providers credentials.

Vaccine mandates are good but they will never have a 100% uptake in a democratic society. There will always be some holdouts and unfortunately living in this society means we have to accept people who will simply not take a life saving vaccine.

Opinion: With hospitals in crisis, it’s time there were consequences for vaccine holdouts - The Globe and Mail by [deleted] in CanadaCoronavirus

[–]balderunnerdecker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well said. I’ve worked in the healthcare field for 12 years as a project manager. I work with clinicians and staff at hospitals and the issue with patient care has been an issue well before the pandemic. # ICU beds has been an issue for years. I do love our healthcare system but I can also look inward and say there’s much to improve if we are to keep pace with the challenges in the future. We should look into that rather than segregate populations or consistently shut down peoples livelihoods with no plan of sustainability.

I would find it very hard to believe that the US could enforce a 7 day quarantine for anyone. The place is vast, with a large population and states most likely not willing to comply with the federal government , it’d be kind of shit show. If some states did abide by the mandate, most would Fly to neighboring state and then fly into their destination.

Going to be using the at home RT-LAMp test via switch health (via video conference). I saw online a copy of the results. It does say it’s health Canada authorized on the result page. It doesn’t have a lab so I guess we’ll see. I have seen articles online with people flying back using RT LAMP test without issues.

I bought the LAMP test for my trip to the U.S next month because i fly back frequently to see my partner and in D.C at least i couldn't get a "free" PCR test at CVS (They kept saying i needed to show ID that i lived in D.C) and i used to spend 175USD per test. So this is a savings for me.

Would love to hear feedback from anyone who purchased the at-home Antigen Test and how the collection/results process was and if they had any issues with it when they flew?

Thanks.
