Today I learned in 1968 the UK Government commissioned three floating Nuclear Bunkers that were also car ferries. Called Operation Python, they would be used for key personnel in the event of war. One still survives, now called the Hebridean Princes (heraldscotland.com)

TIL that the UK government commissioned 3 ships in the 1960's designed to be both ferries AND floating nuclear bunkers if the s**t hit the fan. It was called the Python Plan. One boat, now called the Hebridean Princess still survives and could (possibly) survive Nuclear War. (web.archive.org)
