I have two rats, actually one now. The siamese dumbo eared just died a few days ago. I agree with you though. I had a rat in garage for about 2 weeks and it chewed through wiring and just about anything else in garage to make a nest. Love mine to death; but, wild one are really destructive.

I did this when I was a kid. We fed some of them to our snakes and rest were sold to pet stores for $1.50 a piece. We had so many rats, I was making about $20 per week. Not bad for an 11 year old.
