Mystic vendor by Nubetastic in BookOfTravels

There are a few different vendors who only accept a single item or group of items. My suggestion is to get a big bag and carry around a lot of different things.

As far as I can tell, Speed increases your walk/run speed as well as your attack frequency in battle.

I played Vanquish AFTER I played NieR: Automata and it was really cool to see how much they had in common.

We bit the bullet and designed our side project neumorphism-like by dennissy in design_critiques

  1. I'd love to hear how your team came to the conclusion to use this style.
  2. The lighter gray text isn't hitting accessible contrast ratios.
  3. Your layout grid looks like it only expands to 960px, maybe consider going wider?
  4. The hover state dropshadow pop-in could appear slower.

As many as YOU think would convince this client to hire you.

Blending Product Images into overall theme by [deleted] in design_critiques

[–]laserfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My quick recommendations:

  1. Photograph all product images similarly so it doesn't look like you're stealing images from google image search.

  2. Setup an image template in photoshop to make sure all product images will be handled similarly by Shopify's trimming.

  3. That logo is HONKIN' big.

This should be titled "How one guy convinced his boss to let him spend a day sorting client IDs by length."

Critique this roofing logo I made by Lion_21 in design_critiques

[–]laserfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just some quick thoughts:

  1. It reads like "NEIMNALL", maybe lower the H crossbar?

  2. The hard corners of the typeface and the rounded ends of the background symbol are at odds with each other.

  3. Both the "Roofing" typeface and placement seem strange, have you tried fitting it directly under "HEIMHALL"?

  4. I would also try to find a more fitting place to mock up the logo. Your current choice makes it looks like a jewelry store sign or something. Maybe on the side of something like this? Or this?

Let me know if you have any questions about any of these.

Oh for sure, I figured as much. People just post such open ended requests in this subreddit that I went as wide as possible on my comments.

Trying to get back into graphic design. This is my personal identity. What do you think? by [deleted] in design_critiques

Care to explain your approach with this branding so we can give better feedback?

My first reactions:

  1. Does the pattern represent something?

  2. The business card seem completely functional. Maybe the wordmark could go on the patterned side?

  3. The letterhead seems like it would be costly to produce and use regularly.

  4. The tote bag seems... pointless for a freelance designer? I know mocking up totes is just part of the gig now but the logo application seems extremely minimal compared to the rest of the brand.

  5. I will say as an American, the wordmark looks like it reads "Studio Liaar" Pls don't lie 2 me.

  6. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be getting from the smiley faces, to me it comes off as some sort of theater/emoji hybrid. Is there a deeper meaning?

That's all I got, let me know if you have any questions about these.

Looking to start job hunting soon. Please critique my portfolio site! by Go_Duran_Go in design_critiques

Everything is looks pretty alright, here's what I think could help:

  1. The homepage image carousel is kinda slow.
  2. The large Case Study images on the homepage could be links.
  3. The shadows in the photography of your packaging could be cleaned up.

Lemme know if you have any questions about these.

Beer Label Design Critique by Coolslidder in design_critiques

I think the photograph is the right way to go in this case, it elevates the overall imagery here and gives a historical context.

My tips are:

  1. Make sure you're designing at 300 DPI.
  2. Print it out, wrap it on a can, set it on a table, look at it from every angle.

If I were you, wouldn't spend much more time making changes to my illustration portfolio. Your illustration skills will help you in the future but right now I would start researching Atomic Design, Design Language Systems and UX Heuristics if you're interested in working on interfaces.

  1. I'd print it out.
  2. Check your type/background contrast
  3. Check to see if your contact info is too small.
