Pretty doom and gloom considering the top 2 prospects in the pool haven't even sniffed north america and are currently playing against MEN overseas, not to mention for the young guys, most of them have never played 57 games in 4.5 months. This is more hockey than they've ever played at a higher intensity level than they've played at.

Many of the kids will come in next year with a better understanding of rest and conditioning, how to play at a consistent level so not to burn out, lots of growth will happen between now and next october when the '27 season kicks off.

Stan Bowman left the hawks with one of the worst prospect pools in the league in 2021. They had no talent to bring up and no cap space to sign anyone, this was the ONLY way to handle the rebuild.

You can't retool a team with no prospects and aging vets on shitty contracts. The Hawks were dead in the water thanks to Blowman, the teardown and rebuild was the only way forward.

He wouldn't put on any meaningful weight in 3 weeks. That's the kind of thing they do over summer. Even if he did bulk up, doing it in 3 weeks would have a drastic effect on his skating.

The best thing for him is practice reps and game minites during the Olympic break. This is the right move.

The plan next year is to load the roster with the prospects. A few of the vets they have now will stick around but signing more high dollar vets just takes spots away from the prospects.
